this got me thinking: R9, romario, van basten, luis suarez, gerd muller, di stefano, papin, pele, puskas, batistuta, sheva all better?

I think distefano and pele are more complete players than just strikers. But if we were to consider them strikers, easily better than Lewandowski.

Romario, R9, Gerd Muller, Van basten, Puskas are also no brainers above Lewandowski.

Suarez, Andrey, Batistuta I would consider on the same level and it comes down to preference.

What does "complete" mean? Dribble, heading, shooting, passing? If that's so then we are talking about R9 being the closest example to perfection. And I mean his period at Barca and Inter Milan, 1996-1998, to be exact until the 1998 WC Final.

He is a top class striker surely and deserves all the praise but playing for Bayern also help. His performances at major tournament for Poland are average (except for Euro 2016, he was good but not great).

R9, Romario, Van Basten, Muller, Suarez, Henry all excel in major tournament for their teams. Even Shevchenko also had a better world cup performance for his team than Lewa. Etoo too with his performances at CAN.

Imagine comparing Poland to Brazil, Germany or France.

It would almost be like going after Haaland for accomplishing nothing with Norway, while Mbappe racks up international titles.
Literally nothing Lewandowski can do about it.

Thats why they get 10 shots a game nowadays.

Sure, they last lonnger nowadays but not fkr nothing we suddenly have strikers going past 500 goals in theor career.
The likes of Lewa, Zlatan, Suarez and Aguero are not better than say Sheva, Batistuta, R9 or Henry.
Atleast not to score way more compared to them.

Not just strikers but world class players across the board. It is a weird era right now and I would argue there is a lot less genuine quality across Europe than there was during the OG legends eras. Prime Henry, R9, Romario, Van Basten, Sheva and Beastuta played in a tougher era against better defenders in a time when VAR and a strict definition of a foul was not protecting them.

I think Zlatan and Luis are the only ones who can come close to them because they are very complete and unique players. But strikers like Benzema, Lewa, Aguero in some ways and Kane only have the numbers they have because of the teams they play on and the difference between the haves and have nots these days.
