Imo better than Ronaldinho’s “no look pass”.....

The “no look run”.

Unreal.

Even more so, he apparently wants a raise since he's finally healthy and an important first team member.

Take a 40% pay cut or get out.

Seems like Barca wants him to take a pay cut. Highly doubt he'll agree on it though.

It's good to test the waters. After him being injured in his first 3 seasons Barca has a case to demand to lower his salary. The pandemic is another good reason.

We all know that his agent will come around with an offer from United like Umtiti did when he wanted a raise.

Both sides have their points. A rumoured 3y contract gives an opportunity to raise his salary and extend his contract once the pandemic is over and he has established himself as a reliable player for the club. Knowing Laporta and how popular he is among players and how good of a communicator he is, some players giving in and lowering their salary doesn't seem so far-fetched.
Of course he can trigger to leave on a free next year, but the club shouldn't give in to such power plays anymore and let him leave on a free if he really wants to. It would be annoying if such an expensive player leaves on a free though. It is still the better option than doing what the club did in the past by giving in. That has resulted in the situation we are now in.
Him not extending his contract might the club force to sell him and surely there will be some clubs who would gamble on him as he is still young and looked to improve when it comes to staying healthy. I'd also say his game has improved as a player under the guidance of Koeman. He is far from a well-rounded player, but like seen he has the x-factor to decide a game, one way or the other. All in all he seems more mature (on his own personality scale lol)

Personally, I'd prefer to extend his contract for 2 reasons:
- Ansu has had some setbacks and we still can't estimate how he will recover from his severe knee issues. He could come back stronger, but it is also likely that he'll never be the same. Dembele is the only winger who has pace and he is very versatile when it comes to playing on the wings. I like Trincao, but he is not there yet and also not enough. Can't count on Coutinho.
- I doubt we can get anyone better than him given the financial situation and the current market. Even if there will be some offers, I doubt we can get a lot for him this summer. Selling him might result in getting Depay as replacement and them saving the money for a #9. Depay would be an improvement over Braithwaite, but not over Dembele. Even if they invest the money of a potential sell into a new winger, I doubt we can get a better player as quality wingers doesn't come cheap and no club wants to sell if he has one. If his contract gets extended, there will still be a chance to sell him in the future given his age.

Even if he doesn't extend his contract as he wants a raise or at least the same, I'd keep him and risk that he runs out his contract. At least next season we will know more about Ansu and we can still extend the contract of Dembele if he proves to be worth it. I'm not happy with his numbers, but he is still our best shot taking everything into consideration. Hopefully, next summer things will be more relaxed and finances not as severe as they are now.

Another thing to consider is renewing his contract on lower wages would also increase chances to sell him for a higher fee in a year or two if he'll stay healthy but the club will still decide to move on.

OTOH if he starts to get injured again (which is always a possibility) we're probably stuck with him but at least he wouldn't be paid 12m (or whatever he gets now) to be on the sideline.

We could also motivate him to do his best to stay fit by offering him lower fixed wages and higher variables based on numbers of games he'll play alongside other invididual and team bonuses which most if not all players have included in their contracts.

A lot is dependant on how much he wants to succeed at Barca. Not many reasons for him to accept a lower salary really.

He'll definitely be offered more elsewhere and I can see PSG convincing him to run down his contract.
But I'd probably rather sell him for 30m this summer than let him go for free.

Wants a raise for delivering less than expectation. The balls on this agent.

Reminds me of the scene in the Barcelona documentary when Motta's agent goes to try and get a raise. Ends up leaving with his tail between his legs.

What does Laporta see in him?

With Dembele it's nothing but holding your breath that he:
1. Does not injure himself
2. Has spectacular moment between 89 other minutes of pure shite

This story has been played out. Almost 24 and next season will be no different. Either he pulls a hamstring again during the business end of the season, or if he does play misses sitters for fun in the biggest matches of the season. Cannot count on him when it matters most and it's not viable to pay these sorts of wages for a bench player.

But he will score a wonder goal or two against relegation fodder after we're already up 3-0, so there's that...

He would surely get a raise elsewhere and wont be short of suitors because of his profile (and we have players earning absurd salaries here already), now the question is do we have someone to replace him if he leaves?? I dont think Depay can be a better solution cause dumb as we make Dembele to be, he is always a constant threat to opposition (even though he can be a threat to himself sometimes)
