Dembele couldn?t score a goal like this if his life depended on it

cata is right, to a point. Sanchez got better over time, more clinical and aggressive rather than shying away or failing to press...but I do not agree that it was a 180 since he never sustained any sort of consistency and still would go hiding. That goal though, that is peak Barca-Sanchez - could've had a different legacy ultimately if he could've pulled that sort of genius more often but it was not to be. And that, IMHO, is the risk you take accepting a supporting role to Messi - buckle from the pressure or rise to the occasion.

I used to give A LOT of shit and trashed Sanchez in his first 2 years because of his sitters missed and other stuff but in his last year he truly deserved the name jugadorazo. It's like he did a 180 and was a different , much much better player. Great goals , great dribbles , nice football iq , etc . He was huge in La liga scoring 20 or 19 ? and assisting 12.

My favorite goal from him

He then went of to Arsenal for 42 mil iirc which would easily be around 80-90 mil today. For them in 166 games he scored 80 and gave 45 assists.

Overall my experience with him was much much better than with Dembele , can't even compare.

Laugh , smile or cry

Jugadorazo till I die !

Couldn't score a goal like this either.

Lmao @Dembele during set pieces.

Not commenting on who's better in the big picture, but Dembele has scored 10+ goals for us that Sanchez wouldn't get near either. Very different players.

Dembele has otherworldly acceleration and reflexes, which allows him to dribble past 2-3 players and score a wondergoal once every two seasons or so. Unfortunately he's quite dumb, and has the touch and technique of a donkey. Can't play with others because he can't read the game, can't dribble in tight spaces, can't shoot, and can't pass.

Sanchez lacks Dembele's physical gifts, however his technique was superb, he was functional in tight spaces, was a great passer, and could finish in a variety of situations; allowing him to be one of the top scorers in a league in multiple occasions throughout his career.

Yes, they're different players. One was actually world class and the other has the football brain of a 15 year old.

Sanchez wasn't world class. You seriously don't remember how frustrating it was that he never created anything? Guy went seasons without dribbling an opponent.

But no, Dembele isn't world class either.

Thats not how I remember him at all (at least for us) He was frustrating as fuck.

Yeah, I think Dembele and Alexis were quite equal in their WTF-ness. Alexis was insanely frustrating and always slipping on the pitch. He also never gave the feeling of being a "force of nature" on the pitch that Dembele sometimes exudes when in form.

Sanchez had a career after Barcelona. Where he peaked with 24 league goals and 10 assists in the 2015/2016 league alone. That's Harry Kane type numbers, from a winger. Yes he was world class.

Alexis had one good season and that was 13/14, i remember his match against elche when he scored a hattrick with an oustanding free kick and tata couldnt stop smiling :)

Sanchez had prime Neymar and Messi to play with. Peak Iniesta and Xavi.

His technique was always going to be questionable with them. As his match influence.

Imagine putting Dembele with them and how he would look on the ball. He already couldn't impose his game with the clique of Messi and Suarez these last few years.

By that token, imagine putting that Sanchez into this seasons lineup. Probably be our top player after Messi.

Was as much of a winger at Arsenal as Messi was a "winger" during the 14-15 season. He had the Messi role at Arsenal, essentially, having full freedom on the pitch. He also played centrally frequently at Arsenal. Dembele prior to this season has always had the role of a pure winger at Barca, creating width. His role at CF is also very rigid.

Very similar for me. Both could mess up a simple pass or slip at the worst time, and next thing you see they could score a Golazo out of nothing that made you jump out of your chair in front of the TV. Very entertaining, albeit frustrating players to watch. A lot of natural talent in both.

2013/2014 was not prime Neymar, and Xavi wasn't in his peak lol.
