Ousmane DEmbele completed 13 dribbles against C?diz.

No player from the top 5 European leagues had completed more than 11 dribbles in a single match this season.[@SofaScoreINT]

Like usual with him it's either Hot or cold. But the result in clutch matches is more often cold though

This apparently world class winger, who uses his both feet equally well, scored 2 goals this season and he is in his prime years. TWO GOALS in 26 matches! Who the hell cares about dribbles that lead to nothing. He had like 9307408237 crosses yesterday and none of those was on target. To be fair he was the only one trying but without any result. Considering his price tag he is probably one of the most overrated players in the history of this game.

Nah, I still think he's at the level of Sane, Sancho and has the ability to push a team, as he did with Rennes and Dortmund but maybe not Barca (I think he would've even had a better impact in Man Utd than Sancho with Ronaldo as his target man). We've got many issues right now with players that aren't of the right quality, but it would be more messed up if we replace him with a winger of lesser quality and they're not too many great wingers out there.

To this deluded fan base its not his task to score (he is a creator) so who to score? God only knows. Maybe buskets 15 goals per season and eric garcia 10 and then we re good to go.

Pedri finishes much better than Dembele and Dembele assists much better than Pedri so why not switch their positions. Pedri doesn't cover much ground either so he can stay relaxed a la Messi today in RW position while Dembele dribbles, hopefully while adding linking with others.

Front three of Fati, Auba, and Pedri.

For all his flaws and inefficiencies, and for all his injuries, he's still clearly your best offensive player right now, so why the constant hate ? Outside of the fact he's black and has bad body language I mean.

He already has as many assists as Benzema (and is #1 in La Liga) while playing a lot less games. He could have double the total actually if there was a half decent striker upfront 100% of the time.

Last games, vast majority of the danger was coming from him. Maybe focus on something else ?

Good by Dembele for finally proving himself to be useful for us after four and a half years and after demanding a BdO level salary :coffee:

Say what you want, he turned to be our new "technical leader"

Someone must have talked to him half season " forget finishing just be a passer", and he is marvelous at it with his ability to take on 1v1.

Hope he continue like this and yes we should swallow our pride and renew him.

Raphinha is a bench player at best.

Have you ever seen Raphinha play ?!?

One of the things which has started to hurt us is that teams realize he is not a goal threat. At first, when Xavi ball was relatively new (Jan - Mar) and there wasn't much tape on us, it worked.

But know they are closing down on him much better on the wings, because they know he won't cut inside and ruin them like a Robben would for example (not expecting him to be Robben, but we can expect 50% of that level can't we for his signing and salary/demands?)

He can feck off in the summer with his salary demands and all the headaches he has caused the club. We can and should strive for better, but some on here have a fetish for piling on certain players.

Against Cadiz Dembele completed the most dribbles of any player in a single match in the top 5 European leagues. Second rated player in La Liga this season only behind likely Ballon D'or winner Benema. Joint most assists in 2022. Well aware of his flaws, but Antony, Raphinha etc. are hardly guaranteed to be better, especially the way we are playing right now.

Reason all our attackers look out of sync past few matches is because of "Xaviball" tactics falling apart. Midfield non-existent, attackers playing acres apart and wingers given the ball by fullbacks in tight spaces surrounded by three players and no movement. In that run where we were smashing every team 4-0 we were effectively able to use our width to stretch defenses and quickly play combinations centrally to create good chances. In turn this opened up great crossing opportunities for likes of Alba and Dembele when they got the ball in favourable positions on the flank with plenty of open space to whip in a good delivery. There was no "cross and pray" desperation against Valencia, Napoli or Osasuna. In those matches we crossed only in smart situations, not simply for the sake of crossing. This is why even a braindead player like Adama looked decent in those matches. System and tactics matter when you don't have a Messi or Neymar in attack to bail you out.
