Doubt it, most likely the ref didn't want to check it because of his own arrogance.
They show it on the screen when a play is checked by VAR even if the ref doesn't check it on his own.

No other world class wingers in the world give away that many balls so up in the pitch sometimes even right in the middle of the pitch. It's ok to loose the ball at the final third but really no excuse giving it away that far from the box it just kills the rest of the team because they get to sprint back for nothing.
