It was just to wake up this page of Dembélé since his great performance in Japan, which has made enemies flee for the moment.
In any case, I do not see anything exceptional at Zap Felix. He's doing excellent control and shooting well but nothing fancy.

A player’s consistency seems to be highly underrated in this thread. There is a reason why Pedro deserved a starting place in our team during Pep’s good old days

that's incredible but this is dembele's thread not neymar’s. go post that in his thread :)

guess you never heard of this thing called "context", unless you seriously think I just randomly decided to rant about neymar in a thread that wasn't his

in any case, since felix is so great, go post in his thread. it could do with some increased activity. unless dembele is supposed to be going all out to see who can perform the best in the preseason as if that's why either club paid 100m+ for either of them

i mean we can't even wait until we at least get midway through the season before we starting crying about another "missed" barca signing like you guys did with asensio?

Not sure who this “you guys” is, but I agree with him there too. Asensio is a quality player just like Isco and Fabregas there is no denial there. Dembele on the other hand should learn the basics .. he can actually be an effective starter if all he does is:
- play safe short passes to clear open spaces
- run down the flanks
- cross the ball or cut in and ground pass it

Simple football; no dribbling and no nutmeg and no selfish overholding of the ball. He can start to do any of these forbidden stuff when:
- he master them
- he earns the respect from the team to try something and lose the ball without anyone complaining because he is already contributing and can afford from time to time to try risky stuff and fail

In Barcelona it is a team play and possession and precision are vital. There is no place in the starting eleven for someone who will put the team’s build up effort to waste

Just try for a moment to be open minded and acknowledge that you might be bias towards Dembele. Now read my comment and then watch this video below. Last, take few seconds to reflect

It would be interesting to try an insensitive punishment type of experiment on Dembele. Basically every time he plays simple football, he plays the game after as a starter as well .. and every time he starts to do something stupid, he is removed from the lineup of the next game, not even a sub. He also needs to be informed everytime how he performed and what sort of consequences await him. It would do him good to play under a proper manager, CR serves as a good story for that

...he does all of those things and is an effective starter...

just looked up his stats from last season and didn't even realise that the managed to bag barca 14 goals. if he can reach that 20+ goal threshold then it'd be a great year for dembouz

So I understand that he exceeded your expectations given that he scored 14 goals; might reveal something about how your standards differs greatly from that of Barcelona. You see, a starter in Barcelona is expected to be among the worlds best if not the best at what they do.

Here is an objective assessment for you related to last season.

In their league games last season Felix scored every 1.3 games; Mbappe every 0.8 games and Dembele every 2.3 games

In their league games last season Felix assisted every 2.8 games; Mbappe every 3.7 and Dembele every 3.7

So basically Felix outshined him in both aspects and Mbappe scored 33 goals in the league ffs and on top of that equaled his assists. With all due respect to Dembele but he is no where near a Barca starter material due to his lack of consistency. Even the youtube videos that showcase his skills almost always cut off the scene before the end of the attack because somewhere after all the fancy stuff he does he makes a poor decision and lose the ball. Second most expensive player in our history ffs. What a joke and it burns hard honestly to see blind fans trying hard to convince themselves that Dembele is their salvation instead of removing the bandage and moving on. I am glad we got Griezman, and if Dembele continues to show his inadequacy, Barca will buy a right wing starter next year

But hey .. my opinion is against the forum’s cool aid and thus I must be a troll. Dare he who has an opinion, shame

Edit: Even his stats compared to those he was competing against in Barcelona are horrible

Coutinho had a passing success rate of 88% in La Liga, vs. Malcom 87% vs. Dembele 81%

So basically Dembele is a lost deer. If we assess him as a superstar who has the right to do his own thing as long as he scores and assist, then he fails as compared with Felix and Mbappe. And if we assess him as a basic complementary player in the Barca system that will facilitate for Messi and Suarez he fails as compared with Malcom and Coutinho

Felix and Mbappe play a lot more central though.

I for one just want to see an injury free season of Dembele before judging him.

So tell me what is Dembele key contribution so one can judge him on it?

Is it scoring?

Is it assisting?

Is it passing?

Is it swag?

He doesn’t impress in any, except maybe swag

Lucas and Adama are better than him.
Felix is limited in dribbling.
It's a poacher.
he remained on the bench during the whole match against the Netherlands.
