Paco Alcácer

He was bought to be a good upgrade to Munir right now. Not next season or the season after that. Someone actually said once that "We have four good forwards" now with Paco.

Huh? Where?

Arda is another case entirely in that he had a dramatic change in attitude and also had his position permanently changed in order to accommodate him. Strange but funny how that is so often overlooked by the mob of people here who like to throw Arda's situation in my face. What position will Paco switch to? Maybe we can use him as our backup RB, and then I'll be proven wrong again

He hasn't even played a full game yet and you haven't even given him a full season. He may still be a right now solution but you've already jumped the gun in his first game for us. You are saying he's not a good forward when he's played 66mins, not even Man Utd fans are slagging off Pogba and he was worth a record fee. they understand its his first season and even though he is a right now investment he still needs time. judging Paco after 66mins isnt even logical. He has been here all but a week and you're writing him off, you don't even have enough to back up your point as it is way to early to be criticising him. Paco wont switch to a position because he's not played nearly enough to determine he's bad at his current position.

It never made sense chasing a CF when we had one already integrating into the team, unless it was a player who was fairly certain of making an immediate impact. A wide dribbler was, has been & continues to be needed since Pedro left.

Nolito was the logical choice

Nolito, is that you?:pep:

Also, the same story on every topic:
Mats is a new long term Gk, for the next decade, the next Valdes.
Denis is the next Iniesta.
Samper is the next Busi.
Neymar is the next who knows what for the next decade.
Paco, could he be the next Suarez etc?

LMAO

I love going through your posts and seeing what you have to say about Neymar.

I'm not judging Paco after 66 minutes. I've always maintained I didn't like this guy or the fact that we brought him in at the expense of Munir. I've also always said that he needs to be better than Munir was, which obviously he must be in your eyes, but only after he's had an entire season(?).

I'll be waiting for him to come good and show us that he's the mythical 4th man we've been looking for but thus far he has not shown that, 66 minutes or not. He can turn things around in his next game or the game after that or even the game after that but all this "He's only played XX minutes" means absolutely nothing when we had a player here who would have been able to integrate with the team immediately, for free, because he had already been here for years.

I'm not impressed by Paco now and I wasn't impressed by Paco at Valencia. Maybe one day he'll pull some form out of his ass but until then he isn't the "good 4th forward" he's chalked up to be, and all the excuses needing to be made are proof of that.

I think he will become a good substitute player for us. But damn. I don't remember any player on any position have such a bad start as he did and then become decent for us. He really reminds me of Hleb or that Ukrainian defender. Same level. He is not even Song level now, and we gave away Song for free. Again, not saying he won't become good. But he needs to improve a lot and be here for months and not weeks before he plays. He should be no where near a starter and I think we might lose more games because of him if we do depend on him.

It's not just that Munir has been better. It's that Sandro, a forward we gave away for free, has been better.

Damn man. You probably thought Suarez was another Ibra as well the first few months?
Just give the guy some time. Judge him after the season.

Ibra actually had a better start here than Suarez did, lel. It was as the season went on that the dream started to die...

Munir would look just as bad in this putrid Valencia side. Paco has been better than him, he is more proven. I say buy Paco and sell Munir with a buy back or loan him out. IMO, Paco will look better for us than Munir has ever done.

:rofl1: if you dont like alcacer fine, if you want to keep Munir also fine, but there is no way Munir is better than Alcacer.

We absolutely have to buy a 9 and Paco Alcacer is a great option. He works hard, still young and is a way more established and mature player than Munir.
I just can't see us having another season without a replacement for Suarez.

Just look at Madrid, they got Morata, Asensio, Vazquez and the guy who scored a great goal against Chelsea a few weeks ago.

If we don't have great players on the bench then we give a better chance to teams like Madrid and Atleti to win la Liga in the long-run... which is what almost happened last season.

+1

All the top teams have amazing striking backups. Juve have Zaza and Manzku , Real have Morata , PSG no doubt will buy one next summer to replace Ibra, Bayern have Muller who can play striker, Atletico have Torres and have strengthened with Gaitian too, we need players like Alcacer to be able to compete in the long term.

Serouisly? I agreed with you on Morata but I strongly disagree that Munir is on the same level as Alcacer. Alcacer is miles ahead of Munir, he may have been overrated or whatever by some people here, but he is still better than Munir, I feel people are are now overrating Munir in order to argue thier points. Even in our last game, Munir was disappointing in the few minutes he played. I also look for reasons to keep Munir and not spend money but he simply isnt good enough right now and is still in need of major improvement. Munir isnt the goalscorer Alcacer is nor is he the link-up player Alcacer is. 30+5 million for a striker Spanish international with a 80m buyout clause is decent in this market where people like Bolasie go for more than 30m euros.

This is your opinion.
He may also be one of the best 9 in Spain in a few years time. We'll see.

I can't wait for this saga to be over.

Majority of you who are claiming Munir is a great potential will be bashing him after 5 games he plays like he was playing during last year.

Munir needs playing time and he is 2 years younger than Paco so he still needs to develop and he can do that only if he goes on loan and starts to play all the time.

Not to mention it is much easier to score goals which Munir scored in Copa Del Rey than to score goals in last year Valencia when they were playing terrible.

For me Paco would definitely be an upgrade in this moment.

Munir has potential but Paco is just a better player. He is quicker, has better hold up play and better final pass.

Names like Duelofeu need to be ignored. He is nowhere near the type of player needed and would piss off MSN very quickly.

We've been linked to Paco before, when he was much younger and far from a household name apart from youth NT competitions. He rebuffed despite having an almost innate connection with blaugrana teammates in the NT - of course, he played well in general. You get a real sense that he is quite popular with all his teammates so naturally Los Che faithful must really have great affection for the local boy

It's normal that they are gutted, just as it isn't normal we've made this move but this is the state of the game atm

What was he playing today!? He was all the time in the wrong place! He will definitely
need more time to adapt.
