Paco Alcácer

Barçapocalypse NOW!
He has done absolutely nothing for the team since signing, I'm not sure how we missed him and his 0 goals and 0 assists. If MSN are shut down there's nothing more we can bring to the table offensively without fixing the midfield, which was the real problem.

Hahaha, I know man, I was just taking the piss...

He hasn't done anything to earn more minutes in the ones he has gotten. Same case for the numerous La Masia players who have failed here. Giving him 30-40 minutes to most likely not do anything is much more of a risk than letting any one of MSN suck for an entire game because almost our entire gameplan revolves around hoping those three bail us out with individual brilliance, and it only takes a moment for any one of them to do just that.

He doesn't sub Suarez/Neymar for Paco the way he did Pedro because even despite how much stick Pedro got for being under par, he still brought a huge defensive contribution that often even overshadowed our actual defenders. Paco doesn't even try to make it look like he cares if he gets the ball, on the other hand.

The MSN reliance part is sadly true. And we are gonna burn them out again if this keeps up.

Paco becoming another Vidal situation would be a disaster on our end.

I'm not sure why we didn't push more to get a better striker, or at the very least keep one of the young forwards we had who were slowly getting better. Removing Munir and Sandro and bringing in yet another young striker who would certainly have to adapt before making improvement was always going to be a step back and it's no wonder he's not able to be relied on when we could need him.

If Paco ends up becoming another Vidal I would start to look more towards Lucho than the players themselves. He needs to make better decisions on which players he chooses to bring into the team.

Pedro is a million times better than Paco
Subbing Paco for Suarez
Is like subbing Douglas for Alves, no sane coach will do that

That's just incredibly stupid. What a great comparison.

I don't think you even knew who Paco Alcacer was before we were linked with him.

It's a hyperbole yes, but the overall point is pretty clear. Paco is a huge downgrade to Suarez and there's almost no way Lucho would make that sub when we're chasing a lead.

The way I see it, Munir had a superior ability to play on the wings than Paco, whose only natural place is at CF.
It's like we compartmentalized our forward subs, with Arda/Rafinha/Denis for the wings and Paco as CF.
I don't like this strategy at all as they're not getting enough playing time to gel.

Pedro could play on numerous positions. Paco cant. It was painfully obvious that we needed a VERSATILE forward, just as we needed a full back that could play on both sides to cover RB as well. We instead chose to sign Digne and Paco, two non-versatile players and we must suffer the consequences. But some were happy about us signing them because they were "natural" LB and CF. For some people, the obsession about "natural" players is quite absurd.

Put ma man Ney in full back - he's got the pace and stamina to sprint up & down the pitch :wheelchair: & Digne in FL for the final cross to Suarez/Messi. Solved
Feeling inspired this morning hehe

You mean the Digne that has been standing in for Alba majority of the season? Don't see how he is the problem ATM. Even if he could play RB we would still need him covering for Alba instead

Really? So Alba will never be available and Roberto will always be available? Signing a LB that could cover the RB position as well was a no brainer. It would have given us much more options. We chose not to.

I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't, because other than to the Valencia fans- he was a nobody and still is.

I was saying it before we signed him, and I'm saying it now. What sense did it make to bring in a player that isn't even better than what we had in Munir. You could tell Sandro didn't have the brains to make it here, but Munir kept improving...slowly, but surely and at the age of 20.

Paco was 2 years older with NO REDEEMING qualities. There is nothing he's great at. Vision, ball control, first touch etc. Even his finishing was average, at best. Why replace Munir with him?! Munir is also better on the wings than him since he actually knows how to dribble.

The worst part about it was that we paid 30+ mil for him. Just a horrible decision. At least when we spent a lot of money on Arda he was a proven La Liga player and an absolute warrior for AM, despite not having an actual place for him in the team.

I actually knew him when he played for Valencia
I was against him coming here since when the rumor surfaced
