Paco Alcácer

Hello, I'm a Valencia fan just lurking around here. I admire Pep's Barcelona though. Seeing as you're buying all our players I thought I'd better get registrated lol

Question: What's going on with Paco? Yesterday you were up 5-0 at min 63 yet Paco stays on the bench the whole game. I just feel like he ruined his career with this move. Not that he'd ever be a world beater

Welcome! Well, I honestly thought Suarez would get way more rested with Paco here. And now that he finally got his confidence back, it'd be a good time to give him more minutes. Maybe the next coach will use him more.

One would think that would be a perfect match situation to get some rest for Suarez and get Paco in. Has he been that bad that LE doesn't even trust him to play when you're 5-0 up or is something going on behind the scens with him and LE?

Well honestly he isn't any better for us than Sandro was and we let him leave for free.

Yesterday I think he wanted to rest Busquets, Roberto and Neymar more. But in other matches is weird why he he seldom subs Paco in.

Because substitution is a double edged sword. The stars simply don't like to be substituted, perhaps with the rare exception is they have already scored 2-3 goals.
It's also because in half a year nobody will remember the forthcoming games, statistics will just show the raw fact of being substituted and neither stars nor standard starters like that. They always like to play because that's what they've been hardly training for.
Remember when LE left Messi on the bench 3 years ago... perhaps Messi still has that sting. Coaches need to be very careful in this regard and LE has clearly shown how bad he had been in this regard (Alves, Gomes, Arda, Vidal, etc. cases).

I know. But Suarez is already 30. Last season all of MSN were extremely fatigued after the March fifa break, which is in the 20th now. This season it might not be a problem, seeing we're likely getting out of the CL this week.

You are right. Nevertheless an aging star is usually more sensitive mentally, so they always wanna be 'present'.
Remember when Paco was substituted in for the first time? Suarez went to the bench like a bull...throwing around all movable stuff out of his socks...

The original plan of buying a winger ( Nolito ) made much more sense. A winger would have had more oppotunities to play than a mere striker .

What I don't get is why we got rid of a striker who was usually shoehorned in as a winger to bring in a striker who we'd never play anywhere but striker.

Everything about the Munir situation makes no sense to me.

It really makes no sense. And to make it worse, Paco's fee was enough to get a decent rb.

Decisions like this and the obsession with Gomes over using La Masia is the reason why I laugh at anyone who dares suggest Lucho should stay because of the remontada.

Im not gonna say it makes sense, but wasnt the idea of moving Munir to valencia so he could play more? Then if he proves good enough he comes back to us.

Needless to say it failed big time. At least for Paco. I dont know how Munir is doing at Valencia.

Update:
I see Munir got 26 games and 5 goals so far for Valencia. Kinda meh
