As a norm, you either give time to your young players (Munir, Paco, Denis, whoever), or you sign more experienced players who can make an impact because of their experience of playing at a high level in their career. Signing a young striker and not even playing him when the score is 3-0 or more, because you don't have the curage to take your star players off is bad strategy.

That doesn't justify going out and spending 30m on a player less adapted to the system who is less versatile and will receive less minutes.

I can agree with you there, but as I've said numerous times in the past, purchasing Paco was completely unnecessary because we already had Munir. It's not as if Paco was particularly great with Valencia before being signed, either. At least with Gomes you could have at one point argued that other top clubs wanted him.

Munir is at least getting minutes there and is developing, if we kept him he would get again 200 minutes per season and that would hurt his development. Paco is getting 90k a week and is happy with the bench.
