It's even more dumb when we already had a young striker receiving isolated minutes who was playing better.
Munir was going through a period of good form, but I wouldn't say that things looked promising for him as a whole. I still remember people crucifying him for daring to take the ball from Pique at 0-4 on Bernabeu, calling him useless for trying to do what strikers have to do.
As a norm, you either give time to your young players (Munir, Paco, Denis, whoever), or you sign more experienced players who can make an impact because of their experience of playing at a high level in their career. Signing a young striker and not even playing him when the score is 3-0 or more, because you don't have the curage to take your star players off is bad strategy.
