Frankly, Verratti is double a player Pogba is. And I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Pogba isn't really better than Rakitic and definitely ain't better for Barca. Which, in the end, is all that matters.

What exactly makes you think that Pogba would be a success at Barca like Rakitic already is?
He ain't better at ball distributing and doesn't have a work-rate (key trait) of Rakitic. In case you haven't noticed, his role is basically of another dm.
