Paulinho

He is a rotation for busquets which is lacking in our team to be fair. Still I think the price we would pay for him is too high and he lacks quality on the ball for that position.

Just being linked to him is already embarrassing, let alone signing him. He is 29 years old and will cost a shitload. Flopped for Spurs and for the rest he played in Brazil, Lithuania I think and now the mighty Chinese league. Bloody hell. Move over La Masia, here comes Paulinho.

Words cannot describe how fed up I am with this board. They keep finding new ways every single month to put this club more and more in the shits.

Using Roberto as a busquets backup would have been fine with me and mascherano if it was a big game. The main needs are controlling midfielder and right back

Sergi Roberto would be a far better choice as a rotation player for Busi in the 5 games Busi doesnt play per season than an overpriced 29 year old CM like Paulinho.

I still have hope that we can pull off a couple of signings from Brazil though. We were rumored to be interested in the 19 year old CM Wendel from Fluminense and Yerry Mina from Palmeiras is also supposedly on our target list. Both could offer cheap and good signings with a future profile. They are both two of the absolute best players in Brazil at a young age.

I don't understand the logic on Paulinho part either. He moved to Europe the year before the 2014 World Cup, flopped and it severely affected his game and confidence. He eventually lost his spot and ultimately wasn't called up for 2 years until Tite was hired. This move has a similar high potential to flop and he moving during a World Cup year.

If Barca wanted a Brazilian CM, they could of gotten Thiago Maia or other younger prospects for less than Paulinho.

Ridiculous, for 40m you can actually sign a fantastic Allrounder CM at this point. Tolisso went for that amount, Goretzka would probably go for even half that. Meyer is an experiment, but he's been linked to various clubs for laughable amounts like €10-15m. Don't know what Camacho costed, but it's just as laughable. What happened to the Seri pursuit? Kevin Kampl is an okay/decent CM that is likely to leave and probably purchasable for 20m? Pizzi, Trigueros, Milinkovic Savic, Raphael Guerreiro idk, why did Barca not go for Tielemans? Or Klaasen? Okay I'm just throwing with names now, but point is can think of a multitude of midfielers that are either great and match Paulinhos price, or at least good and worth purchasing for a quite reasonable price. And Barca should actually be able to pull a calibre above all those.

But here we are, in a Paulinho thread.. :fool:

Its funny because its exactly what Mathieu stated as well. I believe Vermaelen made similar statements. Its beyond belief really.

I think Barcelona makes one or two surprise lottery transfers available every summer, drawn from random selection all players available worldwide. Players like Douglas and Verms won it before and this summer Paulinho won the lottery.

Or we can just call it with a real name, it's money laundering. In Douglas and Poulinho's case it's clear as a day.
