For some people if we don't win the CL the second best case scenario is Madrid not winning it.

No, they don't need to start all over again. Real Madrid did not lose any core players, they have been playing like this (possession against weak teams, counters against strong teams utilizing both wings, crosses and headers etc.) for a long time. Whoever will take over will not drastically change how they play.

Zidane's reign is overrated anyway as he had a lot of luck in the CL.
