I really don't get the point in them signing Odriozola when the likes of Nacho and Lucas Vasquez who isn't even an RB is ahead of him in the pecking order.

Couldn't have been any worse than what Nacho did in the first half.

Odriozola is Theo Hernandez part 2. He's not Madrid quality and most likely he'll never be. Don't get that signing at all. Looks like an ambitious but sort of rudimentary player technique-wise. You can't play at Barca or Madrid if you're not very good technically.

Madrid will come back very fast, because they will realise Asensio and Ceballos aren't Iniesta 2.0. In short, they will break the bank and sign 2-3 top class players and they will be back. They don't have time to wait for players to mature while playing.

Yes, all it takes is an Hazard, an Icardi and a top CM to become very strong again.

tbf,Montoya looked like new Alves in his youth days.

Nah, I think fans get superconfident when their favorite team is winning and sitting nicely on top and everything related to that team gets instantly better. In reality, it all comes and goes at this level. There will be times when Barca is on top, and Madrid not. Even when both are very successful there is sort of a leader of the pack, and that was Madrid in recent years thanks to their CL wins. Now they've dropped behind Barcelona again. And the ball is sort of in their court to make the required changes and start being very competitive again. They will probably do it though, they have everything. Power on the market, money, top players, fan base, prestige. Both Barcelona and Madrid have every tools to build very competitive teams, in order to not have many off seasons. But poor management can certainly form roadblocks on the way. Lopetegui is an example of this.

What I like about them is that they realise the mistake very fast and move swiftly to correct it, especially in recent years. No point in giving managers like Lopetegui and Benitez more time.

Sure, but that wasn't the case with Montoya. He was great in 2nd division and in youth teams, even get call for Spain before getting promoted. He was limited physically in terms of speed and quickness and it was exposed in1st team football and then he stopped caring when it was hard and regressed rather than developing.
You can argue that Carvajal is best RB in the world right now when healthy and focused, and during youth days Montoya were far ahead of him.
La Masia being so good also played a part in hyping our youngsters.

Thing is, youth talents don't always develop at same rate, during many factors. Development is like many stages that you have to pass, and to reach Barca level very few reach final stage despite many looking good in the earlier ones

Unlike us, RM will react quickly and probably fire JL by tomorrow and plan for the January transfer window. Won’t be surprised to see them getting the likes of Hazard, Icardi, or even Pogba. They always play for the present

Well Hazard is not coming if they appoint Conte. Kane will cost a shitton of money. Icardi, on the other hand, will definitely join them I feel.

Our 'problem' so to speak, is that our off seasons are still good seasons. How can you exactly sack Valverde after a double, considering we've done it something like 6 times in our history?

You're kidding, right?

When exactly should we have reacted? I don't seem to recall us being placed 9th in the table under EV, looking like complete asshats like RM are now.

And always plan for the present?  because that's exactly what they did just months ago during the summer window, huh?
