If that doctor with ridiculously long name is that great, why is the Bayern injury situation so bad? Surely, maybe they buy more injury prone players, but I think statistically they are worse than even Arsenal. They ALWAYS have someone injured and often long term.

The guy sounds like a quack to be perfectly honest! Injecting players with pigs blood, acupuncture, homeopathy.

I think Bayern will be better off without him.

it means that he is obviously very demanded and therefor good. My dad is treating the players from our local club Hannover 96 and he knows M.W from several lectures during medicine congresses and he said that they wont find anyone even near the quality to that. Also replacing him means, that the new doctor would have aboslutely no clue about prior injuries and problems with several players. Müller Wohlfahrt knew every detail and can build patterns over long-term to analyze problems with injury-prone players, the new doctor will take a couple of years until he has that sort of feeling with the Bayern players.

In high demand doesn't mean he's good. Often these kind of snake oil salesmen are able to build a following through charisma and good publicity. See Dr.Oz and all the mess he's going through right now. I'm amazed Muller Wohlfahrt has maintained his credibility as long as he has.

No matter what, that was a bad move by Pep. These things must remain private.

What exactly did he do publicly though?
1. He said Bayern lost because of injuries... maybe this is silly, but many managers have said something similar. And, it's not totally wrong.
2. He clapped in frustration towards someone on the bench (or maybe for some other reason). It seems now like he wasn't clapping at the doctor.

So...it seems Wohlfahrt was the one who has made a private disagreement public... One might say this has come at a bad time. But, I'm beginning to think this is the best thing for the team.

Even if the guy was a quack and if his methods were basically just a sophisticated placebo, what does it matter as long as it works.

The irritation of Bayern fans concerning this whole affair isn't about Pep and M-W individually, but about the perceived symbolism of the outsider Pep (allegedly !) assuming a role in ousting a club icon.

? You calling one of the best sports medicine doctors out there a quack?

I'm saying he sounds like he could be. I'm saying it seems as though he's duped a quite few people into thinking he's "one of the best sports medicine doctors". Sound amazing? Google Dr.Oz, or Uri Geller (this guys been going since the 70's!). It's entirely possible Wohlfahrt has discovered some new amazing sports treatments, but unlikely. If he has, then the fact that he's keeping them secret, not allowing it to be tested as a possible cures that could help cure millions or traumatic injuries, means he sounds like a money grabbing criminal!

Even if the guy was a quack and if his methods were basically just a sophisticated placebo, what does it matter as long as it works.

So, keep him on the club payroll as an icon. Build a statue of him outside the stadium, if the fans want. Just don't let him near the players. Sports medicine has made some advancements since the medieval times, it would be worth it to get a proper doctor leading their medical staff.

yes, he is special, no he has no nobel-prize, yes he has a one of a kind healing process (you already mentioned it in another comment), though he uses it only when its appropriate. There isnt really much of a debate going on about wether he is good or not, and no you cant just replace that guy 1:1, there might a couple of other good doctors around but do you think this Pruna-guy is spending his afternoon in front of the telephone with packed bags, waiting for the call from Rumenigge? And the fuss about Bayern fans siding with M.W. is simply because Pep is acting like a dickhead, mobbing their club stuff out.
https://vine.co/v/ezhLtxI7hnm
M.W. is not responsible for healing prevention or fitness, hes the guy treating the players AFTER their injuries, aswell as doing the rehabilitation program. If fitness problems occure then this is the problem of the coach's trainings-program aswell as the physios and of course the roation during the games (when the BuLi is basically voer you dont have to play the starting elven over and over again). Yet M.W. gets the blame for injuries aswell as the rehabilitation of Ribery. If Ribery is not yet ready to play, then he is not ready to play, if Pep or Rumenigge still want to use him, then the doctor just has to say no, everything else would be endangering Ribery.
Pep has already had earlier problems with M.W, because he was not ready to give up his private practice to sideline the training sessions and every match. In his protest Pep advised the injured Thiago to go to a "specialist" in Barcelona, instead of their own orthopedist. This guy then fucked Thiago up completely because he treated him with Cortisone injections (i suppose that you know what that is), as a consequence Thiago got fucked up multiple times during the rehabilitation process, which caused him to be out for around a year. If he had jsut stayed in Munich, then he would've probably been back in half the time.
M.W. considered a legend at this club, he spend his half life there, and now he quits, just like that and Pep is the driving force behind this. And just because he is "the Pep Guardiola" doesnt mean that this would be okay and Bayern fans should side with him instead because he is more important according to you.

There are not 1 or 2 or 5 or 10, there are literally thousands of doctors who are highly specialized in, say, ACL surgeries world wide. Over 100 in Germany alone who are experienced in treating elite sportsmen. We're not talking about spaceshuttle pilots here. This is the doctor in Augsburg who successfully operated Victor Valdes after his ACL injury for example and who operates many other footballers:

http://www.hessingpark-clinic.de/de/team/aerzteteam/dr-med-ulrich-boenisch.html

MW isn't supervising every single sportsperson in the world last time I checked. He isn't even always operating himself. Let's not pretend Bayern can't find a new capable doctor to cooperate with as if there only exist 3 or 4 specialists world wide.

How many of our members here have an educational/professional background in medicine to criticize Bayern's beloved doctor so harshly? Then again, how many of us have an understanding of statistics in terms of injuries to ask disrespectful questions, such as "if he is so good why are the players injured...". This doctor may or may not be good and in terms of high performance professional football, Pep or others might have a damn reason to criticize their medical staff for not performing as they should. Yet, reading how people defend Pep here (even if he is not our coach anymore), it is incredible how they treat another club's "legend". Think of Pep as our Sporting Director and some coach (not yet a legend for our club) blaming Pep publicly for mistakes. Then again, think about some other forum criticizing Pep as if he has no idea what he's doing... How would you react?

From reading Pep's biography I think he never had a perfect relationship with the medical staff. Last season, he hardly ever had a fully healthy squad to choose his starting 11 from I guess.

When asked about his future,

''My future is: Wednesday training, Thursday a day off, Friday training, winning the Bundesliga title against Hertha Berlin on Saturday and next year I will still be here," he told reporters. "That is my future."

Just saw the game against Porto. Quite unfortunate for Pep. Not his fault at all. It was practically a gift for Porto. If they don't get to next round it will not be because of Pep.
