Coach:
Pep Guardiola (The Greatest Head Coach In The World)
In theory it should just be entirely made up of FCB players, but in the interest of fairness to other teams I have adopted the 6 Barça players plus 5 Non-Barça players rule
My Key Reasons why I have chosen this team and selected certain players over others:
Terry over
Vidić - because he puts his body on the line every time he plays, throwing himself in front of the ball to block shots, risking personal injury for the cause. Rarely gives away fouls, superior at reading the game and is the best organiser of a back line. Vidić this season has proven to choke on the big occasion e.g. L’Pool Home and UCL final.
Piqué over
Ferdinand - because he is the best ball-playing centre half. Rio is not technically as good and he hoofs the ball out of defence when put under little pressure. I need someone to relieve pressure from holding on to the ball and Pique does this best.
Yaya over
Essien/
Mascherano – Yaya is as strong as an Ox. He is technically proficient, is equally comfortable in possession and gives away the least amount of fouls - fact. Plus he is tall and can challenge for headers while the other two can’t coz they’re dwarfs. Incidentally Mascherano committed more fouls than ANY player according to UEFA’s stats

Surely I don’t need to explain Xavi and Iniesta’s inclusion?
Some alternatives could have been
Ronaldo,
Kaká,
Ribéry and
Lampard, but as I am playing with the Barça system these players do not come into my thinking. However a player I admire, that would comfortably fit into the Barça style is
Andrei Arshavin.
Xavi: My Playmaker – There isn’t another person who can perform this role as well, so there was only one choice. The best passer on the planet, he is the conductor of the midfield. He is intrinsic to how the team plays, everything goes through him.
20 Assists in 35 La Liga Appearances and 7 Assists in 12 Champions League games.
Iniesta has a direct approach that puts defenders on edge. Whenever he receives the ball at his feet he always lifts his head up looking for options and setting up attacks with his weaving dribbles and give-and-goes.
Messi. 38 Goals / 16 Assists in 41 Starts. There can be NO DOUBT that he is now the Best Footballer in the World.
Steven Gerrard – Best Second-Striker around. Never knows when he is beaten. Leads by example, scores goals from distance, cool head in the box. Full of energy and running.
Him and Torres as a partnership is simply irresistible The most free scoring double act in the EPL.
Fernando Torres – Scored 50 goals for Liverpool in his first two seasons, in less games than legends like: Keegan, Dalglish, Rush and Fowler. There is not a better out-and-out Centre Forward in the world. He can hold the ball up, is lightening quick, his movement is out of this world, technique is top notch, fantastic header of the ball, and attacks the six yard box. He would get into
any team in the world.
