Philippe Coutinho

According to The Athletic, Jurgen Klopp sat down with Michael Edwards in the summer to discuss re-signing Philippe Coutinho. It wasn’t a long conversation however, as Barcelona wanted a staggering £8m loan fee as well as the £250,000-a-week wages paid in full.

If Neymar leaves this summer. Mbappe not long behind him most likely and Cavani going.... who is PSGs attacking players?

Di Maria who is soon 33 would be their best attacking player.

Cant see any top player with options wanting to go there.

Lets see.

Ah yes. PSG, the team known to let other teams just come and take the players they want. They were hardballing Atletico for Cavani with 4 months left on his contract and were only ok to sell him for what ? 15 M + 3 M bonus?

You talk about Cavani but PSG signed Icardi on loan with option to buy to cover for his departure. Then, my guess would be PSG interested in Sancho, a guy on the up and still young. Not Coutinho who has been a flop for 3 seasons and is playing for a team similar to PSG in their league.

But, honestly, i don't believe PSG will ever accept to sell both Mbappé and Neymar on their 50 year anniversary.

So, why would PSG push for them ? Griezmann i could see it but i think he is like Dembélé and Umtiti : very happy to be at Barça and won't leave any time soon.

Who said PSG 'just let teams come and take players'?

Neymar and Mbappe most likely wont be there in a year and half and Icardi as perm signing and Di Maria at 33 is not great.

Cant see any chance likes of Sancho would go to PSG. Lets see.

I thought you were talking about this summer not on an year and half. Coutinho would be an even worse option by this time as he isn't that young and isn't a world beater like CR7 or Neymar to be bought around 30 y.o.

If PSG sells Neymar and Mbappé, they would have the money to buy 3 Sancho. Maybe he won't come but there are players on the up. Why would PSG push for a player on a very big downside spiral like Coutinho. He has nothing to offer. Nothing sexy, exciting and his end product is average.

I am saying Neymar this summer and Mbappe not all that far behind him. Most likely next summer as agree both wont go in same window.

Dont agree that young players like Sancho think PSG is an appealing move. Lets see how PSG get on in next couple summers if Neymar/Mbappe go.

Even if Sancho doesn't want to sign for PSG, why would PSG push to sign Coutinho. There is not even a single argument for PSG wanting him. The guy couldn't even make it with a Bayern with Perisic, the ever injured Coman and co.

And let's not forget Barça was in talk with PSG all past summer and Coutinho was loaned to Bayern. Which means even then PSG didn't push for him on loan before his failure in Bayern.

PSG is after the failed Ney-'pape era the dumpster for has-beens, not that unlike to Chinese clubs.

With that fact in mind, Coutinho to PSG should be a given and not even further explained.

Its a match made in heaven.

You are misunderstanding. PSG got done by FFP under the lobby of La Liga and Tebas. They had bought Neymar and Mbappé under the budget allowed by UEFA but suddenly, FFP decided to retroactively lower the value of the contracts. PSG had to go along with it and sell players plus buy cheap (and old) players.
Now, PSG is back on the market thanks to Nike, Jordan and Accor contracts. They were in for de Jong, de Ligt. They can sign Icardi for 70 M€ whenever they want.

And if/when PSG sells Neymar and Mbappé, you can't imagine how much money and wages it will free to buy players. Bit like Messi at Barça : once he will leave/retire, you won't have money trouble anymore to sign the best players in the world but you'll suffer from his loss as a player. Same thing for PSG : Neymar and Mbappé are too good to lose but we will have a ginormous budget.

PSG budget will not be huge compared to other clubs and sponsors etc if taken seriously will diminish.

Players like De Jong and De Ligt are examples of young players who didnt fancy getting stuck in French league and that is a big issue for PSG.

PSG sponsors have already been regulated. QTA, the infamous contract, doesn't exist anymore. As a consequence, we aren't doing our usual winter trip to Qatar. We are promoting Rwanda now, like Arsenal, and getting 10/20 M€ per year. PSG recently signed with Qatar Airways for around 7/15 ME per year, following the standard prices in european football. You just need to check. UEFA can not lower anything anymore as it is in the fair market value.

De Jong didn't exactly refused PSG because of French League. He was seconds away to sign for PSG until Barça made a last minute push. And Barça is his favorite club. So, PSG was seen as the most attractive proposition for a very long time, even ahead of rich PL teams like City.

De Ligt was reportedly seen visiting appartments in Paris with his gf and Raiola came discuss his transfer in Paris but Juventus came in with a better proposition and agreed to put a release clause in the contract. Same story happened with Haaland. Seems like Raiola is adamant in putting release clauses in his most valuable clients contracts, prolly angry about Pogba not being able to leave United.

If those are the two examples PSG is not attractive for the top young players, i'm not too worried. They considered us more than all the PL teams after them.

Why would PSG push for 2 players who are having disappointing seasons for their best player ? Neymar pushing to leave, yes. But PSG pushing ? That is nonsense.

And, for the record, Ligue 1 players, especially the attackers, are generally having fun in Bundesliga. Haller had fun last seasons, Anthony Modeste was one of the best strikers over there. Diaby and Nkunku who couldn't cut it in PSG are doing great in Bundesliga.

So, if Coutinho is failing in the true powerhouse of Bundesliga, i don't want to see him at PSG.

Career mode transfers 😄😄 player too expensive on FIFA? How about we exchange you for our shitty players for a discount? Always worked.

Maybe the best reason for new players to refuse PSG is that they may not leave PSG until the expiratoin of the contract... so they think a minute, is a golden cage a cage after all... some things are not worth. If you are offered 8m or 9m, and this 1m difference is with "your ass is mine" clause... well... go for the 8m and open door.

If i follow your logic, de Ligt and de Jong didn't sign for PSG while it was according to reports very very close. So, what is your conclusion about the PL teams they refused to sign for ? PL too weak of a league ? PL clubs being prisons ?

The truth is you can't sign everyone. Sometimes, the deal gets through, sometimes it doesn't. Lot of players will sign elsewhere while being chased by PSG and lot of players will sign there while being chased by other clubs. Players often chose the best for them in terms of playing time/salary/ambition. Reason why no big club had any chance to sign someone like Haaland (playing time). Reason why Couto snubbed Barça for City (salary/money).

Only the very top top players like Messi/CR7 consider the 3rd point because the first two conditions are a given. And even then, we might argue CR7 went to Juve for the money (less tax).
