Philippe Coutinho

Anti-everything
Sure, we'll never pay full 160m but I think that's a number we have to use when calculating his amortization costs.

Don't know if those 12m he "paid from his own pocket" (well, accepted lower wages to help the transfer go through) have any impact on FFP calculation.

Looks like we've paid 135m so far but if he'll stay next season and reach 100 games we'd need to pay additional 20m. So that's another pretty big argument (besides his wages) against keeping him next season as a bench player.

I'd rather sell him for 20m then give Liverpool a cent more.

Marca are wrong it is 5m per 25m games as reported when he signed.

If it was 20m for 100 games Barca would have paid 130m for him and 135m if win this CL but that is not the case.

I've understand it like this:

What we've already paid/will need to pay:

- 120m fixed fee
- 10 m for qualifying to the CL twice when he was here (2x5m)
- 5m for his first 25 games played

total: 135m

Then 20m if he'd play 100 games for the club
And 5m for winning the CL

which we'll avoid to pay if he's sold (or loaned again).

But then if you're right and we have to pay 25m for every 5 games played we would need to pay 145m. He has played 76 games so far so additional 10m (for 50 and 75 games played).

In this case max. fee would be "only" 155m though.

- 120m fixed fee
- 10 m for qualifying to the CL twice when he was here (2x5m)
- 20m for 100 games played (4x5m)
- 5m for winning the CL

So I think Marca (or The Guardian as the original source) is right.

BTW, Sport witih another swap ideal. Tottenham wants to include Ndombele or Alderweireld in a deal for Coutinho.

imo we should give him a chance under Setien. no club is going to pay what the board would require to sell, especially after the covid pandemic. we can't pay 100mil+ for a player only to loan him out until his contract ends.. while hes been poor, theres still a small chance we see the Coutinho that played for Liverpool, he still has it in him

We don't need coutinho.

Hus salary and another bonuses will be like paying 50mil for one season.

He is shit player for big clubs , he can't be dominant in bundesliga , there is no single reason to get him.

hes not a shit player for big clubs necessarily, hes just not a 100mil+ player but he showed what he can do at Liverpool.

no team would buy him BEFORE the pandemic and now i doubt we'll find many teams who want to take on his wages either looking at the financial situation in football

the problem with these 100mil transfers is clubs usually buy one of them to build the team around - see United and Pogba, Madrid and Hazard etc (although those didn't exactly work out). we seem to be following Madrids old galactico approach loading the team as if we are playing fifa. nobody will ever be able to stand out and be the star in a team consisting of Messi, its impossible. any forward/playmaker we sign will be considered a flop or 'not making enough impact' like Griezmann. the rule here is: pass the ball to Messi

depending on which board get in next (and if they deal with Raiola), we should wait and go for Haaland (Mbappe is impossible). the kid has an attitude about him which i think could lead us into the next gen post Messi. we have a unique opportunity there that we cant afford to fuck up or we'll end up like United a couple seasons ago

Easy to say now. I was excited for both Coutinho and Dembele. Especially Coutinho. Coutinho was amazing for half a season.

Coutinho at CM for Liverpool was absolutely top class even if did overpay for him due to the Neymar money.

The stupidity was buying him to play either in midfield where team is built for front line and no freedom or to play him as left winger.

He takes blame as well as head seems to have gone mentally at club.

The Liverpool Coutinho CM would be the best CM at club by far with ability to pick a pass dribble and a range of passing no one else has but the Barca mid is set up more to serve front three.

Still coming out with bollocks I see. As bad as your greatest midfielder on the planet statement.
The guy was inconsistent at Liverpool and all the fans knew it. Some of us on here knew it was a terrible transfer and will go down as the biggest waste of cash the club has ever spent. Was never good enough to be a top player , Bayern also found that out.

From the man that claimed Morelos was good enough for Barca. That is worst opinion read on here.

Second worst is your opinion that Barca 'would struggle' v Rangers.

Genuinely worst opinion have ever read on here.

You let your club die mate.

Rangers the Royal sectarian club supporting Barca. Yuk.
