United will need massive spending (a la Real Madrid a few years back) to return to the elite of European football.

With the current market, they will need anywhere between 300m and 400m euros to re-create a world-class team. Thankfully for them, South East Asia got their asses covered.

They already did, 100-200 mill euro last summer is just about enough to get the fourth spot. Another 200 mill euro summer to grab 2.place? They are not getting great value for the money, i got to say.

No they are not. My point is that if they wish to return to the very top of the European game, not just Top 4 in EPL, then they have to spend a lot more. Now, how far that spending will take them is another matter. But they have no other choice. But, they do have the money.

RvP is done, Fellaini is not good enough, Young not good enough, Rooney on the decline, Mata not so good, maybe Di Maria will have to be sold but how much will he fetch now? Etc, etc, etc...

Well now that Van Gaal has a season at the club under his belt, he'll have a much better idea of what he actually needs to buy. We'll see if he can make something of next season. The problem for all of the title challengers is that Chelsea will surely improve, so everybody needs to improve double or triple to be able to stand a chance/win the league.

He also needs to hope for better luck with injuries. That early season injury list was ridiculous, should be illegal.

1-0 Hazard. He missed the pen but headed the rebound in!

Tbf that penalty is so so similar to the Herrera one at SB a few weeks ago but that was not given and this was. He put his leg into the defenders leg.

Yeah he's too nonchalant sometimes. I had a feeling he was going to miss, glad he got the rebound. :D

Hazard didnt want the reputation of only scoring penalties, so he wanted a goal from open play, for the statistics.

Tbf, only reason i watch Chelsea these days is because of Hazard. Was hoping for a show from him today, thats a start, keep it up Hazard.

For all the wrong penalty calls Chelsea had against them along the season, they finally got one that wasn't. Lacklustre performance by them so far, Cuadrado, who I thought would do well, looks lost every time he plays.

Chelsea is even more boring in possession than without it. I can see why they often dont play possession-football.
