This Liverpool side is almost unrecognizable. The pressing is still there somewhat but there is little energy and no flow. What contributed to this rather drastic decline? Injuries (other than VVD, who else is still injured by the way?)? The 5th-year Klopp Syndrome?

It's accumulated wear and tear both in the mind and the legs. There's a reason why teams have to be refreshed massively every 3-5 seasons.

Gomez and Matip at CB and Henderson/Fabinho not been in midfield enough.

The way the players and press talk about Arteta is as though he is the best manager ever... Yet to see anything from his Arsenal side.

Vintage liverpool second half.. They just camped in arsenals half, pressed high and waited for mistakes.. Seems easier said than done though

There was a time Jota was on Atletico's books but never got a chance and was sent out on loan to Porto and then eventually being sold to Wolves.

Some say it was some sketchy Mendes deal at the time when Atletico bought him but he's turned into an excellent player no doubt.

Klopp switched formation to 4-2-3-1 after Jota's introduction and magically Liverpool created 4 clear cut chances (scored the 2) before he reverted back to 4-3-3.

It's clear that 4-3-3 atm is not working the best for them for many reasons:
-defense not as reliable to play the high line without VVD and Matip, so more help from md needed,
- Firmino as false 9 is becoming less effective in threading through balls to Salah/mane,
- Thiago is totally 50% or less of what he can do when he plays as an interior.

On the contrary, when 4-2-3-1 was used:
- Jota's presence in itelf as a plus, as he is a great player. But especially:
- Firmino suddenly become less of a problem and more threatening as last line of opposition defense is occupied by Jota, so he has more space to operate in. Likewise for Sala, Mane who have more options (with Jota on the pitch) when receiving the ball out wide
- Thiago great in the double pivot, and Fabino-Tiago is a WC double pivot to say the least
- Defense more protected with double pivot

Hope Klopp starts with the 4-2-3-1 on the week and kicks Zidane's ass

Everyone acts as if its normal for Arsenal to do this poorly.
Spanish Moyes surely has done well in lowering expectations.

Heard Ceballos is doing poorly at Arsenal btw, he can stay there.
