Crazy how Ragnick was supposed to bring this innovative and ultra intense brand of football only to end up playing a 442 with two strikers at a combined age over 70 and a Matic-McTominay double pivot.

Tonight of all the United games he has coached, he looked to have lost his way.

Conte with this United squad (better than Spurs squad) would walk into 4th place. Unbelievable arrogance to not hire the man who put Juve back on the map, won PL with Chelsea 1st season, and broke Juve's Serie A dominance with Inter. He's shit in the CL but top 3 in the league (after Pep and Klopp).

Saving this for when Spurs implode and it's blamed on Spurs being Spurs

United were never going to move for Conte.

Their error has been not moving for Poch or Ten Hag harder in past and keeping with Ole.

The solution right now is finding managers like Arteta, Xavi, guys from the new generation who have the energy and the passion to start this tough road and keep going without fearing they will fail.

That, and competent high management structures that decide to trust them and make it clear to the players that it's either their way or out.

Conte is elite, but super volatile and can't keep a job because he is a conflictual guy. Military-type management is good as a shock, or a short term boost, but it wears off. And he knows nothing else.

Rangnick CV is lacking concerning Coach/Manager at senior clubs and winning titles/cups.

Tho Klopp and co speak highly of him.

The good part about Conte is that some players need a stronger personality manager, and the impact of a manager like that is felt even after he inevitably leaves or is sacked. Similar a bit to past Mourinho versions.

The strange appointment of him in the first place. I agree Poch and Ten Hag appeared the better choice.

They got themselves in a ridiculous situation by backing Ole for too long and then left with no option to sack him and no coaches available they want long term.

Over thought it with Ragnick it seems with aim of him fixing some issues in squad and setting better situation for Poch/Ten Hag to take over in summer.

Problem is Ragnick done nothing at top level really and ideas not tested in EPL.. while also a bit like Koeman situation players know he will be gone soon enough and doesnt have full authority for long.

Conte was never a realistic option though.

Sooner or later United will hire a top manager like a Ten Hag, he seems like a really good one, and they will be back. The problem is they lost already 10 years of fucking around with dinosaurs like Mou, LVG, or guys who are ambitious but just aren't that interesting like Moyes or Solskjaer.

Think Man Utd will go for Poch first as they seem to want each other.

Ten Haag as 2nd if Poch does not work out.

Yea, IMO Ten Hag has brighter and better ideas. Poch comes with an underdog mentality, that's what he always was IMO at his best, I don't see him as proactive enough. The best managers are offensive-oriented.

If they appoint Pochettino... there's a good chance they will be making another error in the long run.

Poch will always set up vs likes of Klopp, or Pep, the way Mourinho did. Defensive, trying to milk something on the counter. They need somebody brave and bold enough to challenge them, not to immediately take on the underdog role.

If Rangnick does well, his recommendation for manager will be considered. They have to work together.

But if United go back to their old ways……what becomes of Rangnick?
