I mean they never tried to build a midfield around Pogba and then signed Bruno, who ends up having the same issues as Pogba even when the latter doesn't play.

Yea, you can incorporate at most one AM that doesn't do much defensively. Two is impossible. Pogba is somewhere stranded between not being a CM and not a forward either.

He's an AM that needs a Makelele/Mikael Essien/Gatusso/Kante next to him. Someone who puts in an insane shift to cover for his laziness and self-indulgence.

Just have a competent double pivot or DM-CM combo next to Pogba, it doesn't seem too hard. But United goes for another AM, who's honestly more like a 2nd striker even.

Same nonsense as us buying fecking Griezmann.

They tried that constantly with Pogba and to fit him into their midfield in just about every position can imagine and never worked.

They absolutely tried to build round him and he never performed for any length of time.

Bruno been far, far better for them and been levels above anything Pogba showed there.

But Bruno is better than Pogba. So Pogba would still not benefit a lot from that. He's just not good enough for a team to make so many adjustments for him.

Yeah, sorry, but have you seen their CM/DM options? Horrible. No wonder their midfield never looked good, but Pogba, who I am not a big fan of, seemed like their least biggest problem. Hence why it made no sense to buy a pound for pound replacement for him, but it's probably a long term plan with his contract running out next year :S
