Villa got punted out cups early and only had league to focus on.

Then went on a run of ten games where about Newcastle only decent side they played.

Good run of wins but good run of fixtures also.

That was a good game even when heading for 0-0.

Fast paced and top tactical battle.

Gilmour looks like he is getting back... Better version of a Scottish Gavi tonight.

What is being seen is that United don't have good enough or well suited players to control games and take the ball from their opponent.

Too transition based which can get you some big wins but might not be consistent picking up points in the league.

Players like Bruno, Rashford, Fred, Casimero can be great in their own style but they're too transition focused with all of them.

Antony, Ferran Torres, Marcos Alonso, Weghorst.....this is why you shouldn't let managers handpick players they want to sign btw.

Weghorst was not handpicked.

They had let go of Ronaldo and had next to no margin to spend.

It is like claiming Barca hand picked LDJ.

By the time they maybe get something going in that team of theirs, Casemiro is gonna be near retirement.

Yeah, but technical directors hit flops too. All get the credit and the blame imo.

Of course. Even the best technical director/sporting director will sign a flop here and there, but at least if you have a competent person in that role there will be some proper scouting and thought behind it.

Sometimes players don't work out for different reasons as well like failing to adapt to a new environment.

issue with letting managers sign specific players is their tunnel vision. Remember Pep with Chygrynskyi?

Paid far too much for him.

His passing is fuckinf atrocious in some games. Very hit and miss.

Gilmour gave him runaround tonight and not the first.

Yes I'm sure Man Utd decided to sign a garbage backup striker that just happens to be Dutch and knows their manager.......just like Barca just happened to stumble onto Luuk de Jong with Koeman as the manager.

They'll spent another 300+m to address they issues in their team in the summer, only to finish 3rd/4th again.

Liverpool will be better
City will be city.

HTG was said to be close to those two managers haha.

No ETH would have approved the signing but they had no real margin to sign a CF.

As said it is like claiming LDJ was handpicked when it is a cheap punt when have little option.

Regardless if they win cup and get top four then I am sure ETH is happy enough with that short term loan.
