To be honest Ronaldo made it really easy to drop him with his antics and Maguire did not have as much pull/influence in the team and press as amigos do.

Far from a guarantee that EtH would have binned Busi, Alba, Pique and the likes off because they are actual legends of the club.

Xavi's only annoying tick selection-wise these days is Busi anyway. He benched Alba until he raised his level (still a liability defensively) at the season's beginning. Pique is gone and only played because everyone got injured, Roberto is a rotational player.

The problem is that THE biggest contributor to us getting destroyed in CL/Europa is Busquets.

And he's a mainstay under Xavi.

Due to Xavi's status there won't be another manager at Barca who would have an easier time to drop any player no matter who they are. Apart from probably Pep.

Xavi's simply in love with Busquets and still want him around and give him starter-quality amount of minutes. Nothing to do with anything else tbh. He simply rates Busquets as one of the top CDMs in the game still, if not the best.
