Next season is gonna be very important. With Klopp going, it's gonna be Pep vs a bunch of managers who never won a single EPL title in their career. Arteta is likely the next one to make this big step if he doesn't somehow implode.

Ange has done a pretty good job at Spurs. They lost their talisman, probably best striker in the world in Harry Kane (queue english haters crying at this statement), didn't sign a replacement striker. Then have had to use makeshift defences comprising of Emerson Royal playing CB ffs. New signing Maddison who was in great form injured for many games, not been same since. Very small squad and so couldn't replace these players.

If Spurs can make 2 or 3 good signings they will be in great shape going forward with him.

TBF Ange and Xabi were the only exciting stories far as football goes this season
Not sustainable, but it was a breath of fresh air

Spurs signed players of 450m in the last 2 seasons.

Arsenal spent on their squad 836m, and Spurs 829m in total.

This old poor Spurs they don't have investments to compete is a thing of the past. They are one of the top spending clubs in the last years and up there with their North London rivals.

The thing Ange didn't have yet that Arteta did is time. He will probably get that time, and he has to use it well like Arteta did.

I'm editing it to give you solid arguments regarding the investments of Spurs in their squad. Which is at the level of Arsenal.

Plus had to deal with Son going to the Asian cup and Sarr and Bissouma going to AFCON. I give Ange the benefit of the doubt and next season is when he really should elevate Spurs to the next level.

Fair enough.

Do you genuinely think it's fair to hold Ange to the same standard as Klopp/Arteta and Pep because he has had 1 summer of spending money (signings likely already incoming regardless of his say)? Meanwhile Arteta has had 5 or 6 now, Klopp and Pep even more than that.

Spurs are starting that spending from a position of having a very weak squad. They haven't spent all that money very well too. However Ange has gotten a lot out of most of the signings. He's also getting the best out of Romero who many were starting to write off as not having the right mentality. You can't say well spurs have a squad of 800m just like Arsenal when Arteta has picked 800m/800m whereas Ange has probably picked 100m/800m.

Kane the season before Ange arrived was dragging that spurs side to where they are in the table, still only finished 8th, he scored 30 goals Ange has had to find in other players.

Then as soul mentioned they've had players going to this and that tournament not being available. He's done extremely well for the squad he has and the absences spurs have suffered this year. Doesn't mean he can suddenly be classed as a world class manager or anything. He needs to sign some decent players, get them gelled with the team and make spurs more consistent and secure top 4. He does that and he can be counted as a top manager.

Tottenham has spent since Ange signed 270m. That's only in the last summer and winter. He will of course get some time to sort out the squad, but not much.

Ange is gonna get some time to work it out like I said. But the bar is set very high and with the money he's getting, he'll be expected to improve Tottenham very fast.

EPL is tough. You get huge funds to make your team a contender, but so do others.

Are there really high expectations at Spurs?

They don't win trophies, and are roughly where they were last season on the table.

UCL is the goal, but i reckon one doesn't get fired for finishing 7th or something.
