Lots of players 30 or over and with injury problems. Ederson, Walker, Stones, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Bernardo etc. That core that served them so well has aged.

Gundogan was never world class. A reliable and consistent performer who's good on the ball and smart but never a match winner with X Factor.

He had one amazing season where he had a big offensive influence over City's game, but only one. The treble season I think. Back when Grealish was also great.

Now he's slow and washed up. Bernardo follows the same pattern. They were both great but they got slower and now they can't keep up with the intensity of the game. You can add De Bruyne also. Their entire starting midfield from last years bar Rodri needs to move to Arabia.

He was hyped up by City fans when he originally broke through but once the new car smell faded he's really not all that great. To slow and weak to play as a Fullback and not good enough to play as a Midfielder either.

This trend that has come back in style annoys me a bit - playing CBs as full-backs. Barca and Arsenal do it too with Kounde, Timber, White etc.
