Things will continue like this until we end up with no titles. That's my bet. Once we have a terrible season through and through there goes the veteran power.

If Barca win nothing this season it wont change dont think.

There is no incentive for board to make the change with a year left when think could probably win again with similar squad.

Would need to be a couple seasons of no titles and a dramatic fall before changes can be justified or players start realising best days behind them.

It is almost like the older players try to keep one another in team as constantly feed one another when other options on or stop defending when game done but stay on park when could be rested.

Against the shite in a Liga that is enough most weeks but top teams in CL expose it more.

There's only four senior players worth caring about. Messi, Suarez, Pique and Busquets.

The hope and my prediction is that Barca will make a huge splash on a CB to replace Pique as he'll decide to retire. Suarez hopefully realizing it's time to move on even though he's probably going to trigger that extra one year extension until 2022. If they sign Lautaro I think it's probable that he'll leave.

Busquets is the odd man out.

Busquets is OK in La Liga but shit in cl. How many times do you see opposition players out muscle, out hustle and out run him?
Every time we got thrashed in cl even in 2013 Busquets stood out like a sore thumb.
Pique is done too. Too slow and a bench option for next season which I hope will be his last. Ditto Suarez.

To be honest I haven?t seen enough of Setien?s Barca to make a judgement on that yet.

My point still stands about the game under Valverde though.

The simple fact is that in 2 leg tie you can't isolate one game and say you hope if it was coach X who are coaching us.
And as Jamdav said, we neither deserved the 0-4 game just like we didn't deserve 3-0 win. But both happened.
Liverpool was just a better team last year, I doubt under normal circumstances we would have beaten them with any other manager providing we had same circumstances. Setien is not a better manager than Klopp and very doubt he would have ever out coached him to the finals

I think Pique and Suarez will stay until they are shown the door tbh. Both have contracts till 2022.
And Pique continue to be the best CB we have right now, that means we need 2 CBs for him to be benched.
That is why getting 110 Lautoro might be dangerous business, we have a need for a starting CB now and another one in the near future, we also have a huge need for a replacement for Suarez. If Martinez failed we basically wasted ton of time and resources without replacing both.

I think Busquets is the one who might leave on his own, he is widely considered as a future coach and those will want to leave with good memories and not too late, unless his family isn't interested on moving away (really has no idea about Busquets family tbh)

I never said anything like that, it was @Barcilliant and other members who did. I never mentioned Setien until you asked, to which I responded in my previous post.

You are over-complicating this imo. Valverde was clearly a main culprit. There is no way a manager should lose two ties from a comfortable 3 goal lead in 2 consecutive seasons in the Champions League.

Too many excuses were made for him and already are. Was he the only culprit? No, obviously. Was he a major part of the CL debacles? Hell yes.

Liverpool were a better team, but their manager is a big reason for that. Let's not even get into this. If Liverpool had Valverde and we had Klopp, we'd have easily handled that Liverpool team with Origi and Shaqiri in attack lol .

Top managers add plusvalue. Quite a lot. It's why they are so rare to find and so valuable. Klopp does that immensely with Liverpool. Valverde added nothing in CL. He made us worse actually with his decisions.

This is a reality. Valverde added NOTHING for this team in CL. His contribution was almost non-existent. Messi & Co. beat the lesser teams with their individual class, and the first time we faced a serious opponent (even a non-elite side like Roma) we were out in embarrassing manner.

Also, in CL there are many situations where you get lucky in one game. And then you seize that luck and make it count in the return leg by going through.

But not EV. EV got very lucky in the first leg, but instead of making it count like the very good managers do, he fucked it up and ended up looking like a clown two times in a row. You want to know how a poorly managed team looks like? Watch Liverpool's 4th goal.

You say I over complicate things then proceed to over complicate a simple statement.
You can't isolate one game of this tie and say I wish coach X was here. Setien our coach in such tie and at the end we get eliminated most likely.
You can proceed with a bbz type of essay as you want, it doesn't change that.

Valverde goes through both legs if players don't shit the bed.

Sorry but it's true he deserved to win back to back trebles with us

The liverpool 4-0 was like 50% players and 50% manager. Analogy time: Valverde started a fire and instead of the players pouring water on it they poured petrol, then rolled around in it, then shit themselves. And to anyone who thinks this is me giving Valverde easy treatment, I am attributing 50% of the loss to 1 person, whilst 11 players + subs SHARE 50% of the blame.

It doesn't change it, but imo people should stop pretending the manager has little responsability on how the players treat intense, decisive matches. Manager is key in all of this.

Sure, if a whole team shit themselves in 2nd half manager has got a lot to be blamed, period.
Players too, considering we got 0-4, 0-3, 0-3,0-4 in 4 away games out of 7 play-offs in period of 3 years with different managers. 1 win in 8 away games in 4 years with 3 managers. A habit that statically existed for over a decade now.
Board too, they never made enough change, never put managers in positions to succeed since Lucho in 2014 and never bothered to make a true sport project. Signing big names seems their cure to everything.
