Rafa Benitez - The Destroyer of Teams

Doesn't mean he can't do the job for Real. People are acting as if Real won't be contenders because Benitez is their coach now. Please... they will be better than they were this year.

It's you who assume this then decide to play devil's advocate for whatever reason. The agenda is obvious since you claimed that many players retired and XMG addressed that claim accordingly. A convenient mistake.
Just like crediting Inter's remontada to the fact that Leonardo speaks italian , what's next beginner's luck ? That's right, Leonardo had just turned 40 and had little experience at this level of coaching but hey as long as he speaks italian.

Real won't be contenders, really ? There's a difference between rating Benitez a lot less than Carlo and acting like RM won't be able to compete.
As for Rafa's madrid surpassing this one, well i admire your confidence lol.

What does that mean? Sounds funny.

Btw bbc say that Rafa admires sterling, and talksport say he wants to sign koscielny.

It means when one in a Banter/joking mood. FOM urban dictionary:
Full-On
Adjective. A particularly intense or extreme experience, whether good or bad.
"The party got a bit full-on when those randoms turned up with all that crystal meth."

OT: Sterling may come but then who will he replace in the starting IX?
Does anyone think that arsenal will sell one of their starters? would go against their "we are a stable club so we wont sell our best players".

Leonardo italian? He is brazilian.

thx, you're right of course, i got mixed up responding to serghei's claims that Leonardo being more familiar with Italy than Benitez is a heavy argument.
I mean, Leonardo does have an italian passport anyway.

I thought you were bright enough to realise that when I used retired I didn't really mean they stopped playing. They might have played 1-2 years, but not at the same level. Second, Leonardo played for Milan for 5 years. I'm pretty sure he speaks italian and language matters. I play the devil's advocate because we're sounding like the very same forums people here mock. I know it's Real Madrid and we like to ridiculize them, but that's more like hatred towards a guy that is a fan of how Barca plays and that has often spoke highly of Barcelona. He is a good coach. I didn't like it when other forums were saying Enrique will flop and this and that, but here we are doing the same with a manager that has far more credentials than Enrique did when he got the job in our case.

Hell, we named Tata Martino as head coach. I bet a lot of people didn't even know who he was before he got named Barca manager. But hey, Benitez is shit for Real, before his plane even landed in Madrid.

Good post

you can refrain from snarky ad hominem if you please. That's where the line is drawn ;)

I evidently am not bright enough to get your implication that retired players keep on playing for 1-2 more years. But since you're admitting to being on some kind of crusade based on some whim that benitez is underrated here, there's no reason to continue this. Benitez failed at Inter because he didn't speak italian and Leonardo salvaged their season because he did. Why not. Can't wait for the reverse to happen now in Madrid.

Rationalize going from a historic top to trailing Milan by 13 points in 4 months all you want
Leonardo stepped in and made things massively better for them.

What happened to that guy? I thought he was primed to be a top manager as long as he gets the right exposure, but I don't think he's even coaching anymore?

He became sporting director for PSG right when the qatari took over and presided over the signing of Pastore, Verratti, Motta, Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva etc. Was very popular with PSG, even more so now than then since Pastore has gone from flop to top. Over a year ago he was involved in a retarded incident that saw him banned from officiating in the french league just at the time when seemed likely to take over the job at some point. Don't know what he's been up to since then but I think there have been some more rumors about him and PSG again (as director or coach) since his ban is set to expire in the coming weeks.

Yeah he might do well in Real Madrid.Don´t think he will but lets see.

Still Napoli fans are happy that he is gone. There was also a comment i read on a forum which said he destroyed their club.
Had to think about this threads title but sadly it got changed today.

Failed at Napoli and was headed to West Ham before signing for RM, surely, the probability of him failing are greater than him winning LaLiga.

Also, serghei , given how you were fiercly amongst the ones convinced that Messi was done and we must have sold him last summer, your predictions don't seem to be the most accurate there is, no need to insult people, I'm sure TornAndFrayed is bright enough :)

What? I've never said we must have sold Messi last summer, nor have I said Messi is done.

And about my predictions. They are awfully wrong, I know. Like this one for example, from last summer.

No? Selling our RW and bringing a 9? Messi taking over the RW is a lot more reasonable than playing Iniesta there, 4-2-3-1 or not.

If Suarez comes, and Pedro/Alexis leaves, prepare to see something like this. And you can quote me on that.

That was when most said Suarez will play on the right, or Messi would play behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1.
