Surely his bad performance cant have anything to do with the fact hes being played out of position in a completely unorganized lineup..

Rafinha has played as a rw a lot. For Barça B and Celta. He just has bad decision making. He's a great squad player, but no way a starter for Barça.

Looking at Rafinha and this formation, makes me want someone like Dembele (or Bernardo Silva, but preferably Dembele) that much more. Would be so perfect for us in this system.

Worst player after rakitic today. We really need to go for a proper rw who can dribble past the fullback and create chances.

His main problem isn't lack of pace, but fact he has wooden stick in place of the right leg. It's like having disabled person playing. He doesn't ever cut to the right of defenders, which makes their work predictably easy.

At least he did not cost 30mio or more like Gomes or Paco or Arda.

I like him, a cantareno, at the moment not a starter, we will see his developement in the coming years....

While he's a nice player to have to bring off the bench, he simply doesn't have the quality to be a regular starter at Barca

This season was always going to be the make-or-break season for Rafinha IMO. Agreed, he had a long term injury, but his development and overall play has probably been the biggest disappointment of the season, even more so than the Gomes fiasco, because a lot of us always felt he had great potential. I think we have seen the best and worst of him this season, and unfortunately, we can conclude fairly confidently that he isn't ever going to be good enough for us. I do see him adding value to teams at a lower level though.

You can argue that he is a good squad player, but tbh, if you're 2-1 down with 20 minutes to go, he isn't really the solution you're looking for on the bench. You will only use him in dead rubber games, or to rest someone when you already have a big lead; this isn't a role we need him for. Look at Madrid, they have the likes of James, Isco and Kovacic as squad players.

hes switching between RW and wingback in this 343 formation. For Celta he played as Right mid and CM and for Barca b mainly as false-9

Rafinha is a better player than Kovacic for sure and we have Denis Suarez who is comparable to Isco and has great potential which he already showed last season at Villarreal and this season in games like the one vs Sevilla where he was playing in Iniestas position alongside Rakitic and Busquets and the rest of the starters. Besides its not like James, Isco and Kovacic are having great seasons either. None of them is a starter for Real and all 3 of them are rumoured to leave in the summer due to lack of consistent playing time. Rafinha alone has also scored more goals this season than James and Kovacic combined and were talking crucial goals like the one against Atletico and Granada.

Don't think I agree with either of these, especially Suarez being comparable to Isco, I mean come on! You're right about the fact that both James and Isco are rumored to be leaving, but it's Mierda, you know they are going to make big signings (whether they are silly ones or good ones, time will tell) with the massive war chest they would have post the sale of these two. I also agree that Rafinha has come up with goals, but it seems to be he went through a spell of 4-5 games where he just happened to score quite a few goals. They seemed 'random' almost.

As for Kovacic, I have been impressed with him whenever I have seen him play. He has pace, quality on the ball and good dribbling skills. I would exchange Suarez for him in a heartbeat.
