Madrid have some defender in him. His pace, composure and reading of the game make him the complete defender. If it wasn't for him Barca would have got at least another goal. He really should be first choice centre back from now on. Him and Ramos would make a good partnership. Varane is the defender Pepe wants to be.

Actually I'd say Pepe wants to be more like Roy Keane

It's not surprising really. I remember when there was a thread asking which RM player you'd like to see at Barca and for me, Varane was at the top of the list , with Puyol getting in age I feel Varane would have formed a really good partnership with Pique.

I'm not sure about that, but Varane is very promising, already looking like a first rate defender. If Madrid are smart, he will be a thorn in our side for years.
