I thought it's clear to people that Mou wants to keep Gago and IMO he is exactly the material to grow under Mourinho. Good passing, positioning and tackling need improvement. A good sub for Khedira, but with much more vision and potential to become a midfield leader. I really do not suspect him to leave anytime soon.

About Diarra, that's what I meant, but we're still left with 4 and it's going to be down to Lass' priorities and whether he will cope with a bench role or not. With him in the squad we will have 5 CMs, 3 of them being able to pass the ball around.

Gago is not really Jose type , his reactions are too damn slow for the team. Gago is good as gone next summer .

Marcelo is turning to the best liga LB , Higuain established first team striker for club and country and Gago is still combing his hair

If you've seen Gago distributing the ball then you know what I'm talking about. He shined under Schuster despite getting his ass handed to him by teams in CL. Natural sub for Xabi for La Liga games and I think he will receive time to prove himself to Mou. But yeah, you're right that he was the one to improve the least from the three mentioned, however TBF when did Higuain and Marcelo start to shine ? Gonzo had his best season when he had a capable people to help him out last year and Marcelo has only started to develop his defensive skills under Mourinho. When Gago got his playing time due to Lass' incapability to work with Xabi in the midfield he didn't do bad at all and that's his work next to Xabi. I really expect him not to go down without showing what he's got, unless he gets injured yet again.

He got torn apart the same way the whole team did in bigger games against better opponents than La Liga scrubs. He is a good midfielder for league games and we need someone like him to take the load off Xabi from time to time. The only reason he didn't develop his game under Schuster and other coaches is because what he did was considered a good performance since we didn't have Alonso to show him how it's done. Also, he was held back by injuries and didn't have a proper motivation to improve since his coaches couldn't bring out the whole potential out of the rest of the team.

Marcelo improved defensively last year ? How ? He was getting embarrassed by Jesus Navas. You mean that he improved to the extent that he didn't get his ass handed to him by Levante's etc ? That's just because on the other end of the pitch Ronaldo and Higgy were making sure that Marcelo doesn't have a motivated player matched up to him.

Gago isn't gone and I believe he will improve to some extent, even if he is to leave this summer.

Marcelo actually started to improve his game under Juande Ramos and that's when our fans started to love him than comes Pellegrini and played like a great attacking full back , this year he improved his defensive side .
If we are keeping Gago for Levante i'd rather we cash anything and let him go i hate the slow fucker and no i beg to differ in those games (classico /Liverpool ) he was one of the main culprits for the midfield playing like ghosts

for me it's a matter of when not If.. we don't need him and he has stalled , he need to go to a team like Seville or something

Whenever I ever weigh in Gago and how poor I find him, someone brings up his Boca days and how he was some 'playmaker'...Those days are past and he doesn't look up to the responsibilities of being a DM in the Primera...He's better off in a system where too much isn't asked of him

But it does seem that a good deal of his troubles can also be the result of confidence issues as he is not the same assertive player he once was early on for RM
