Well good for Jose , we know it's not a skill thing.. he is his coach and his free to punish Marcelo for his action no doubt
As for us it's good to have him focused on pre-season and to prove himself

I've read in couple of places that Mourinho's intentions are infact to move into 4-4-2 diamond formation:

While that makes sense for weak teams and gives Coentrao a stable spot, it forces Sahin and Di Maria both to come off the bench. It also solves the problem of injury prone midfield, but OTOH makes middle less stable and forces Ozil to drop back deeper. One of the possibilities, but not a long term strategy IMO.

I think he was unlucky with the injuries and was not used properly also..

->He wont go to Roma as Luis Enrique does not hold any place for him
->He wont go to Milan, because they cannot aford him
->He might go to Inter, once sneider will be sold, but i have serious doubts for that move..

I agree with what Wolf said.. No one will pay 30m for him this summer..

It is actually a very good alternative, when facing minor opposition willing to sit back with 9 men.. It can work to unlock those defences with adjustments, but of course in no big clash this lineup can feature..
