I think both Barca and Madrid peaked in the last 12 months. From a rivalry standpoint or quality of football.
While Chelsea winning a CL was a fluke, it nevertheless signaled something. It's getting increasingly difficult to compete in the market with new "big clubs" and we have to think smarter and adapt faster. This is where I see Madrid doing a better job. Their business model, marketing projects, whatever.

Pep vs Mou, Messi vs Ronaldo. I don't think it'll be repeated in the near future, so mind as well enjoy the show.

Agree fully with the highlighted parts as for our business model although it is successful we still lack the last jump from youth to first team to rely on ourselves and that's where you are ahead
the youth team took a leap in the last 24 month with the installment of Torill and now the team plays in Segunda however much faith is needed for those players to break into the first team

It'll improve whenever Jose leaves

I really don't know if CR and Mou leaving would be better or worse for RM. On one hand, their dressing room would have less drama which would certainly improve performance on the pitch. On the other hand, Mou motivates his players to win unlike any other coach and there aren't many coaches as good as him.

Like in the last 4 games? ;)

You guys play too hurried despite the possession, and it's punishing you guys. Yet you guys still play well enough (really bad temper though lol). However, apparently, last time you won the CL, you guys started out terribly in the league, so no crisis crap yet lol

Nice cartoon from Sport

Mourinho: Independence of Catalonia is the only thing that could make us win the Spanish League.
Casillas: It's Madrid that needs independence...from Mourinho.

CR leaving, along with Jose, is a big step towards a better dressing room. Last season CR was very decisive for us. Easy to say we wouldn't have won the league without him (That game against Atletico 1 week before the clasico).

We'd surely miss a great goalscorer if he leaves. That's why I'd like a good coach who gives greater value to setting up a system, like Joachim. We could certainly improve with a good system like the one he developed with the Mannschaft. I hope our forwards could flourish in this and compensate for CR's loss.

You already had a great system last year and 4 games are too early to write off what Jose or CR have achieved the last 2 years. What Cristiano has done in his career at Real is absolutely mind-blowing. It's just because of his immature, egotistical personality and the fact that he plays in an era that has Messi that he doesn't get as much appreciation as he probably would have had he played in a different era.

Jose took a team of talented and skillful individuals and had them playing as a team (not just offensively but defensively as well with that incredible workrate in winning back the ball). Losing Jose and CR would be a considerable blow to Real. For a Barca fan, seeing Jose and CR leave would be sweet but it would also dilute the Classico rivalry considering what a huge advantage Barca would have then.

Can't believe as a Barca fan i'm actually defending Jose and CR but you're seriously selling short their value and accomplishments........

I hope they stay as well. But it's not realistic. If we win the CL, then Jose is definitely leaving unless he doesn't find a suitable place to go. If we lose CL, and win the league, it's most likely 50/50. If we lose both, he's also leaving. If SAF decides to retire, he's definitely moving, or at least attempt to, to United regardless of this season's outcome. And if Jose leaves, CR leaves as well. I doubt he'll stay on.

I admire both Jose and CR for their incredible achievements in football. This year Cristiano deserves the Ballon d'Or (Before you argue, remember this is player of the YEAR. Messi's 3 trophies in 2011 don't count). Two catalysts for our achievements last season and this season's first trophy. But we have to be realistic, and the reality is they'll leave soon.

I really don't understand this assumption that it's not 'realistic' to expect either CR or Jose to stay next season. I don't think SAF decides to retire, especially not now and especially now that the hated neighbours are trying to provoke his wrath. SAF is way too competitive and proud to leave now that things are getting interesting and heated in Manchester. United have reloaded and City haven't really brought in any new great addition this summer which could make things interesting.

The fact of the matter is both Jose and CR are shrewd enough and smart enough to understand that they are surrounded by great talent in Madrid, the likes of which they won't get anywhere else (except for Barca and we know that;s not happening). I think either of them only leave if they;re forced to. I just think what Cristiano is doing is a political ploy similar to what happened last season with Jose when there were reports of how he was sick of 'politics' within the club and 'sources' close to him were leaking reports of how he was looking for a home in England. They both have the same agent so these tactics are not a surprise.

Jose and Cristiano are surrounded by amazing talent that has helped them achieve great heights and the most expensively assembled squad, which is for the most part pretty young. Jose will have nowhere near the level of talent in either City or PSG. The only place I could possibly see him go is City but even that doesn;t have the talent or quality that Real have. Jose only leaves Real IMO if he is forced to and I don;t see Cristiano leaving (moving to Spain and competition with Messi has taken his game to new heights).

If Ronaldo goes to City (and Aguero and Silva don't leave), then probably City would have a better starting 11 than RM?

CR and Mou leaving Madrid? What is this madness? Unless SAF retires or RDM/Martinez get sacked from Chelsea/Man City where would Mou go? Take another year off? CR should not leave this league. He helps draws in attention to it and with bigger viewers the potential new deal TV rights to be shared equally among clubs has a higher chance of happening. Some people watch La Liga just because CR is there, the league needs him here if it wants to sort this thing out.

Also, on tonight's game, normally I want Madrid to lose, not because of hate but just cause their our rivals, but their playing an English team, with the crazy media who would declare that La Liga is crap, or that EPL is the best if Man City beat Madrid. If it was an non-English team I would want them to lose (well, not really, I wouldn't care to be honest), but tonight and any other time they face an English team they have my support, for 90mins that is. It's strange, I never used to think this way, back in High School I hated Madrid so much that I wanted them to lose heavily in every match, even the thrashing they took off Liverpool I enjoyed, until I switched on the radio that night.....

Ever since I went to Uni and started spending less and less time on football forums and football in general actually I've found my dislike of Madrid reduce dramatically, similar to how I feel about Ronaldo, I used to despise him, now I can appreciate how brilliant a player he is. I just grew up i guess, that may just be it, or it could just be that I have better things to spend my energy on then hating a club or player.

I hope RM lose. If they do, it will be the beginning of a crisis no doubt, and this can only be beneficial for Barca.

You see this is where you all get it wrong. Real losing would be a great thing for Barca. It would keep the confidence of Real low, it would ask more questions of mourinho and his team and another loss could create divisions in the squad.

But no people like yourself want Real to win because it is more important that you as a fan have this superiorness towards english clubs.

I honestly don't get it. I want my main rivals to lose all the time.
