Yes Beast, I do love these political dramas, the politics is one of the things that makes La Liga the most entertaining league.

Honestly, this will be the last thing on his mind.He's probably incredibly excited to have a new challenge at Real Madrid and incredibly honored to play for team with such great history.Obviously he has the full backing of his family and friends, otherwise he wouldn't be in the white of Madrid.Political propaganda will be the last thing to weigh on his mind.

Xabi Alonso is an excellent player and Real have made an excellent signing, there's no better place to play (besides for us) than at Real Madrid.

Well, I sort of misunderstood you and I thought you mainly were talking about all of the teams out there (including Serie A, EPL, Bundesliga etc.). But I don't really know would I - it would most likely depend of the surrounding circumstances, respect towards my national heritage (assuming I'd be Basque), possibility of winning trophies etc. However, for the footballer Xabi is, I guess winning trophies (and the possibility of winning them) is the most important thing - that is at least mostly, how the career is defined at the end of it? It seemed natural (writing this seems so FREAKIN' awkward) that he chose Real Madrid as Barça never showed any interest in him. He could have stayed at Pool as well, but I guess he saw his chances limited there career-wise.

It indeed will be interesting to see how his Basque counterparts will take this and how he'll cope with the anti-Basque chants.

I have enormous respect for Real Madrid.Without their influence, we would not have had the motivation to win everything that we did last season.
If that gets me some stick from some barca forum members then i can live with that, in the end Barca and Real need each other, you may hate to admit it but its true.
