Visca el filòsof!
don't exclude Perez genius mind.. remember the Disney world he wanted to do based on Madrid players character ? he will come up with a genius plan with Adidas u can bet your house on it.. the man in terms of making money is second to none.. and Adidas will have to bow down eventually to get a cut of the new game..

So because he once dreamt up a Real Madrid theme park which never came to be, he'll definitely screw a few million more out of Adidas?

Raul is a legend, Gio needs to show the man some respect.

Raul is a legend.. no one can deny that Ward... but my stance on him remain the same .. he should retire and we will forever be in debt

i think you underestimate the man

2-6 is forever in the record books and will be talked about forever.

the pasillo will just be talked about forever.

one is > than the other.

anyway, beastie, had we signed villa I would have agreed with you that we spent out of fear but pep identified ibra as the target at the start of the summer for the qualities he has.

it wasn't spending out of fear and I maintain we did good business getting a player valued at €90m (because of the CR deal) for €46 and a player we wanted to get rid of anyway whose ACTUAL CASH VALUE to us was pretty much €-6m. yeah the staff will say they value him at €20m, etc. but that's not really what he was worth to us when you consider he was gonna leave on a free.

yeah the deal if analysed seperate from the environment it was done in seems fucking ridiculous - but you can't isolate it to analyse it, the environment is a key element of the deal and it makes it, IMO, a good deal.

And you say we lacked respect to Eto'o?

If Raul score with that consistency & that hunger till now and be 1-3 in the pichichi race and be as influential no one will ask him to retire.. if Eto'o had a similar Raul form in the last 4 years u would have cut his throat from the first year

and common do you really want to debate that ? look @ what we did with Salgado.. paid him money & giving him a farewell game during the SB trophy vs Milan plus we did an official press conference with him & Valdano ... u can't beat us in players treatment

lets not kid each other Meta.. the reason u switched to Ibra is Valencia refusal .. now it's suddenly Ibra was the first choice.. the same way Hleb was never part of Ibra deal but Maxwell deal before it turned out it was an independent deal than another twist u paid Inter 5 Million Euro as penalty for Hleb deal (added to Ibra value ) ..
your club officials lie all the time .. so lets stop there

unless of course they're canteranos.

eto'o was never the symbol of the club as raul was for madrid, and didn't spend the same amount of time at the club as salgado did at madrid (he played for you for 10 years so earned a testimonial, lumping it in with the SB trophy isn't kindness it's expediency) plus he was a foreign import and as much as we love our foreign imports the canteranos reign supreme at this club. look at how well we treat them and compare THAT to salgado.

eto'o was asked to leave because his negatives had started to outweigh his positives, simple as that. he was being disruptive in the locker room and he's not "king of barcelona" so doesn't have the clout raul's politicking gave him to be able to pull that shit for years.

um, we went for ibra well before villa or don't you remember moratti visiting barna and having dinner with laporta and admitting they discussed the strikers?

we were put off by their initial asking price because we felt we could flog eto'o to city for €29m and sign villa for €45m (which would have been an outlay of just €16m). but once eto'o rejected city we went straight back to ibra because no one else was gonna sign the psychopath so his actual cash value as an independent asset disappeared, but he could still be used as a makeweight, which is what we did.

and where's official confirmation we paid them €5m because gleb didn't move? find me OFFICIAL (i.e. on one of the club sites) confirmation. I never saw it, but I'm sure I could have missed it, all I saw was papers saying we allegedly would have to do that which tbh doesn't mean shit to me.

like De La Pena ? or Pep ?

pep chose to leave because he felt he couldn't compete in the modern faster-paced game.

once he retired we then gave him a job as b-team coach and then promoted him to first-team coach.

I think we did alright by him.

de la pena was out of favour with van gaal. it was a real shame but tbh if the only example you can find is 10 years ago then I think we're okay as we're a completely different club now.

garay could be heading to zaragoza according to MARCA.

good deal that would be...i don't see garay as real madrid material. he only played 45min in his so far first ever and last ever game for madrid in pre-season, before getting replaced by agus says a lot IMO.
