Isn't revolutionary ? Cause football clubs have theme parks ? or any similar idea's ?
like I said, I think it was united who were considering making a casino.
but in the end any plans like this fall away for many reasons. some club aren't run by property tycoons so can't get land cleverly/steal land. and it's a huge expensive to do this and many clubs can't fenegel millions from banks either. it's not a revolutionary idea, perez is just corrupt enough to do it.
but the crucial difference, for me, is that these ideas fall away because this is FOOTBALL. I know it's a business but there are limits to that, especially limits of taste and class. perez is a whore for money and so doesn't have any class or taste, which is why when he's around real have these stupid ideas.
anyway, the ultimate rebuke to perez comes from dr. ian malcolm.
"[Your club was] so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
(especially pertinent as it is about a theme park!)
real are so far ahead in marketing terms because your policy was to sign famous players. famous players draw in plastic fans like nobody's business. you won two CL's with good players, but hard-working players. no one was really marketable worldwide. perez got in and changed all that, pushing you right to the top with famous players. you were starting from a position of strength, though, have won a lot with honest pros.
ronaldinho (especially) and messi have helped drag us out of a financial hole and up to the third biggest in the world. yes we're still behind you but we started from a position of weakness with a 5/6 year trophy droughtl. from that, we have ascended to 3rd biggest in terms of income and one of the biggest names in world football. we've gone from a laughing stock to the darlings of europe. that's pretty fucking impressive, my friend.
you underestimate laporta and his two teams (pre and post no confidence vote).
I hate the idea of a football club being a "brand"
I just..........hate it.
I am sure Gio as long as Real are winning trophies you will try to polish the turds that they come out with - but at the end of the day a turd is a turd.
If this is the way all major football clubs go, then I'd rather not be a part of it tbh.
I haveta agree with edward, here.
theme parks != football.
