Story in Italian press today is that Pato will be sold this summer, with Chelsea and Madrid favourites to sign him. They quote Madrid as prepared to pay 50M € + Benzema. What have you guys heard? I would be happy with that cash, just keep Benzema, or through in Drenthe instead.

Chelsea will offer 45M € + Ivanovic according to same reports.

Its not a case of wanting Benzema, hamzah, its the money. Milan sold Kaka´ to bring the debt level way down and also at the same time reduce costs at the club, such as agreeing wage drops for many of the key players and cutting out some of the dead wood. Galliani actually did a good job, is even likely to get Ronaldinho to take a considerable wage drop, (verbally agreed). However its all been pretty much undone now as some reports are claiming our revenue this year is down 20/25%, largely due to the recession - less fans buying shirts, tickets etc. The result is this summer more cash needs to be found, and i´m affraid our most valuable asset is Pato.

On the Milan forum now its the usual crap about Milan is too big to be selling its best players. But i´m more pragmatic I like to think. I´d rather lose 1 or 2 now and secure the clubs future before we have a serious problem. Rather that than a disaster like Fiorentina, Parma, Lazio etc which topples the club, and all its stars in one go.

Pato would prefer Madrid right?

Why would he want to go to another version of Milan *cough*Chelsea*cough*anyway!?

Well as great a player as he looks like becoming, I don´t see him caring about much more than where the most money is to be gained. I don´t think he is one for much sentimentality.

well that would obviously indicate Madrid to be his destination because according to latest reports Abramovich is keen on reducing the wage structure

It was a long time ago on Marca , i don't know what will happen with Benzema but i don't think it will be 50 + Benzema , more like either 50 Mil or 20 + Benz especially that United are entering the bid for the unsettled striker

Would that not put Benzema value at 30M though? I think after this year his value has to have dropped more. But like I say I don´t want him anyway, would rather have cash and with his wages I doubt Milan would opt for him either.

U know your man he loves to have so many strikers in Milan
If u can mature him as a person he may turn very good for you plus the game in Italia is slower and could benefit him greatly .

United are negotiating around this value that's why i think it will either be little money + Benz or no Benz (sold to united ) and 50 Mil .

that's of course if the rumor is true

i think you should hold onto pato until he is at his peak then sell for a higher price. until then you can spend the money you will receive for him on new players to replace the old.

If you have to sell Pato, sell him to man city for £40m and get Adebayor, Hart and Kompany in exchange. or to Chelsea for £40m and Ivanovic and Zhirkov.

No way would I sell to Madrid unless its a cash only offer.

if benzema will be sold, i'm almost certain he's going to join manu. SAF has always been interested in benzema and now that he is said to be fed up with berbatov - who's put up for sale - and owens worrying injury, he's in even more need of a striker than last summer.

and i really don't believe in pato join real...he's way too much unwanted by socios & madridistas in the polls, that it would not be the kind of signing that "tranquilizes" both group. therefore i really doubt pérez & valdano are interested in pato.

i think a last attempt for david villa is much more likely than pato - baring the polls in mind again.

Hamzah I think we will never get better than 50M€ for him, even if he improves as expected I can't imagine these prices can last more than another year, now is the time to cash in on him if we are going to.

Gio I really wouldn't like to see Benzema in Milan, I never rated him at Lyon and he's only got worse since in Madrid. Seems to have a pretty defeated attitude also, the Ivanovic link is far more interesting for me.

i think the perfect coach for real madrid would be a spanish felix magath. to me, he's easily the best coach in germany. he won the league with stuttgart, bayern, !!!wolfburg!!! and is now in his first year at schalke within just 2 points of the leading bayern. it's really amazing what he does with the little source he's got.
Just a little correction: Magath didnt win the league with Stuttgart, he was runner-up, which was still an enormous achievement with a veary young team that was almost relegated the year before.
