They are just clutching at straws due to their (what used to be ) a bad history in Europe biggest fiesta ..at least they should be thankful we allowed them to enter Europe biggest competition by winning it and allowing the second place to tag along although the first three years belonged to Bilbao,Seville & Atletico ;)

If you also remember during the 50's Sweden reached the world cup final so their team must have been pretty strong, in 54 Hungary reached the world cup final so their club teams must have been pretty strong, germans are always decent.

It is a myth that 50's football was weak and that was the reason Madrid won so much in europe. Personally I just think they had 2 of the best 5 players in the world at that moment in time, in their team during that era was Puskas and Di Stefano so they were always going to be the strongest team.
and why? the reason are the Barcelona players. Barcelonas squad was full with hungarians in late 50s and early 60s :)

Real were way superior to Barca those years. But not 5 CL in a row superior.

the hungarian teams weren't up to much when all the best players fucked off to play abroad because of the revolution.

how do you think puskas ended up at reial? kocsis at barca? etc.

anyway I love this thread. the last 20 or so pages have been beast trying to convince the culés that we're afraid of josé, and when someone turned the josé argument around on him (which duckie did) beast then goes into full-on denial mode. it's priceless.

josé will be at reial until he wins the CL or until fergie quits united, whichever happens first.

(I expect first latter will follow the former, tbh)

I found a good article about Mourinho's plans. I've edited out extraneous information and changed the formatting for length.

The new coach of Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho, has singled out the areas of the team he feels needs strengthening. The former Inter tactician has wasted no time in assessing his squad as he begins his newly-signed four-year contract at the Real Madrid.

One of the main areas he wants to strengthen is the full-back position, despite the La Liga runners-up spending £6 million on Liverpool’s Alvaro Arbeloa on a five-year-deal last season.

"Real have a right-back that I like very much in Sergio Ramos," Mourinho told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. "But in my way of thinking, I believe he can be better as a central defender so we might need a right-back. I also would like to have an alternative left-back to Marcelo. Marcelo has his characteristics but Real needs a balanced squad, different players for each position. I would like a left-back that has different characteristics to Marcelo."

Mourinho appears to be after a more box-to-box midfielder, as opposed to the less versatile midfielders already under contract at the Bernabeu.

"The midfield line is very important," Mourinho said. "It's difficult to find a complete player in central midfield. You have less players box to box. You have more No. 10's and defensive midfielders. But it's very difficult to find a player in midfield right now that is complete."
