Di Maria isn't really a Jose type signing. Out of Ronaldo, Benzema, Kaka and Higuain one won't play too many games next season.

especially now that Guti is out and Raul is a bench warmer officially he will need some old guy in the middle of the pitch has to do with experience , remember Fabio and Emerson/Cannavaro/Heinze /Ruud ? Jose & Fabio are off the same school of thinking

Pragmatic managers like Jose & Fabio believe in the experience ..if you look @ the what will be the team next year the oldest is Iker with 29, rest are mid twenties /early twenties Gourcuff will be another player without enough experience

I wanted Gourcuff instead of Kaka but that's me now it's Jose call and he said officially that the midfield in Real have plenty of DM's and plenty of Am's without box to box midfielders i also know he's been a fan of Gerrard for several years
if what the press report is true than expect a line up of 4-3-3 with Xabi-De Rossi-Gerrard in the middle , Di Maria/Navas-CR on the wings and Higuain in the center
or CR-Higuain on the wings and some CF in the center
as i said i don't see Kaka playing /staying next season but of course i could be dead wrong

I don't think that is the best move Gio. Gourcuff will be ready for the challenge of helping lead Real after carrying Bordeaux and shouldering the responsibility of the French team during the WC. Xabi is already 29, bringing in another old midfielder isn't a great idea in terms of long-term plans. If Jose wants another player on the field that is around 30, then he should shoot for a center defender.

You are preaching a firm believer BG my friend you know how i value the young Frenchman , but it's his call and he will be responsible for the questioning in front of the fans and the board .
let's face it Jose isn't Wenger he will surely get a young guy same way he did with Mikel ..etc but he will look more @ the starting 11

forget Iker he is the keeper , than you have a 4 players of Maicon 28/29-Ramos 24-Pepe 27-Koralov 24 none of them in their 30's
midfield of Xabi - a De rossi or a similar type De Rossi plus Gerrard 29-27-30
front line of CR 25-Higuain 22-Di Maria 22 (or something ) ..

that's why he probably looked @ Gourcuff as another man without enough experience for his liking
remember that the subs also are mostly young guys , Albiol 24, Arbeloa 27, Marcelo 22 , Benzema 22 , Lass 25...
the 30's bracket is missing , Gerrard will be the only 30 year old playing in the starting line up which even for Jose is little he will want 2-3 30 year old

De La Red is still testing , running with something to measure his heart beat , probably will go to Getafe if he is ok to get match fitness

It's the exact opposite to the way Wenger does things.
