you still don't believe me. instead of insulting you back i'll show you youtube clips:

Who's marker scored?

looking uncertain. oops golazo

bad pass leads to a Valladolid goal. Who can it be?

those were goals, for mistakes, take this match:

first chance, maybe not his fault but that looks to me as he was trying to film.

but then, he made great matches like against Atletico etc, which is why he is inconsistent. some good matches, some bad matches...

Maxwell was La Liga buy of the season. So much better than Arbeloa. No doubt about that.

he could show you 2 or 3 clips of alves mistakes, that doesnt mean he's inconsistant. Arbeloa was great last year....

I'm obviously not the only one with these thoughts, I've read numerous editorials and "player ratings" of summary where the writer thinks that Arbeloa was one of Madrids weaknesses this season.

you know what, keep him, don't buy a reinforcement and we'll see next season ;) i'd love for that to happen.

Alves is consistent but he cracks under pressure, like against Chelsea and Inter.

You can stand by your opinion. However, when everyone else here that watch RM games that don't depend on Youtube and editorials here say otherwise, I'd think about it.

What's your problem? I mean, what else are mandril going to do with a canterano, play him? :rofl1:

:rofl1:

Anyway 30m + two canteranos (is it?) is still a ludicrous deal for Di Maria, or so I insist until proven wrong. And I don't mean proven wrong in 5 years' time when he becomes a world beater, i mean in the next season. If he goes to Madrid as a backup for 30m + 2 players with potential, well that's still overpriced imo.

You have changed your mind on him several times ... has to do with Madrid ?

Have I? No i haven't...

Remember how we were discussing how you and Ed thought that 40 mil for him was a bargain, but i said that while i admire him, 40 mil is a ripoff...?
I've always had the exact same stance on Di Maria.

Top top talent, CAN make it big, but 40 mil (or 30 + 2 player exchange) is overpriced, because he HAS potential but he did it in Portugal, in dodgy circumstances for Benfica, and wasn't consistent during the season anyway...
I don't recall ever differing from that opinion.
I admire his skills and some of his beautiful goals, but remember how i was saying that if you pay 40 mil for DI maria, then Hazard should be worth 40 mil, as should Pastore and Poli and Hulk everyone in that 'calibre' - good young players with loads of potential, but for now, that's it.

* Oh and it's not Madrid, cause if I had the money, I'd pay 60 million for Higuain ;)

Hazard maybe although not much yet, but Poli, Pastore and Hulk are just no way near Di Maria. Poli is only about potential. He still can't make it much in big games and the coach subs him off a lot in big games. Hulk is just meh. Pastore is also very normal, has potential but hasn't done one fourth of what Di Maria did and I don't rate Pastore that high anyway.

I agree though 40 million is just not realistic. 20-25 Million is damn enough. Gourcuff is even valued under 25 million. Di Maria shouldn't be over that.

Ok well it took me about 2 seconds to come up with that, and I'm sure if i had thought it through i could've come up with much more reliable players. The thing is, Hulk is not meh, he's 2 years older than Di Maria but he's been consistently good in Portugal for years. Better than Di Maria. Could he make it outside of Portugal? You can't know, and for that reason you can't really know if Di Maria could.
Also, Pastore has done things in a league that is of much higher calibre than the Portuguese league.
Seriously, Di Maria was shite between 2007 and late 2008/early 2009 I mean it. He was a whiny selfish prick. He scored what, 3 or 4 goals and gave a couple of assists? His breakthrough year was mid 2009 to 2010.
But then we have to factor in that Benfica were propped to Liga Sagres success much like Real Madrid would have been 50 years ago, and that in the Europa League Di Maria disappeared against the big teams... Porto had 2 key players suspended, Benfica had FIFTEEN red cards ruled in their favour, something like 12 penalties... And they could still barely beat BRAGA. It should've been a walk in the park for Di Maria - oftentimes it was not. As soon as Porto got Hulk back they duly thrashed Benfica 3-1.

Di Maria is great. He has immense potential. But he has not proven himself yet, not in my eyes.

But yeah, imo 40 million is something you pay for Gourcuff, as you said, 20-25 million is damn enough, certainly damn enough.

well, this all depends on the club that is asking...typically, when real madrid come knocking on a clubs door, the respectiv club feels like winning the lottory. if barca were to sign di maria, 30m € quit would be more than enough. but with real, you get refered to the 40m € buyout clause and end up at 30m € plus 2 canteranos.

jesús navas...del nido: "for 20m € i'll sell navas' shoes to them."
kolarov...lotito aka wanna be del nido: "i won't even sell his shoes for 15m €."

then there is inter rating maicon around 35-40m € etc...

meanwhile, players like soldado - off to valencia, good luck - pedro leon, canales & azpilicueta are out there for less than 10m € respectively!!!

Yes that is very true, there is considerable inflation facing certain clubs when it comes to transfers - Barca included, but more so Madrid, Chelsea, now City... Thing is Calderon did damage to that with the signing of Cronaldo as well.
But, Benfica will surely be laughing their way to the bank because the profit they've made is huge, and Madrid have paid the buyout clause, have they not? It's rare to see players bought for buyout clause value. In which case it makes me think whether the move was really so well orchestrated, whether the relations between Madrid and Benfica are not good enough, or whether Di Maria didn't push for the transfer... Surely it would have been possible to get Di Maria for cheaper, especially pre-World Cup. But anyway, only time can tell what will happen. No doubt Di Maria has what it takes, and I don't think he'll be a Quaresma, definitely not.
I just question the impact this move will have on the transfer market. If Di Maria is worth 40 then Cesc surely has to be worth at least double that, which is a horrendous idea and it's just the sort of inflation i dislike :S

Exactly he was very consistent through out the season ..

anyhow Di Maria for 30 Million plus Marcos Alonso & Rodrigo (both from our Castilla squad ) , and Pedro Leone from Getafe (rejoice Nandor ;) ) will be the second signing
excellent back up player

fuck right off..

pedro leon is my first buy in fm whenever i play la liga.

i hate real madrid

Pedr Leon ? Milan were following him, now Madrid take him ? nah no way.
anyway I think the reason Di Maria's price is that much is because Benfica want to actually make profit since some of the money goes back to his old club or something.
