Fucking legend. I don't care what anyone says, these words sum up everything about him. He will shoulder loses and protect his players but haters will always think he is overly arrogant totally dismissing what he does for his team.
They're not mutually exclusive. He's an arrogant prick who does a lot for his team.

to be honest, raed, the quote is inaccurate.

because when the team wins, josé wins. I know he tries to give the credit to his players with his words, but his actions in the crucial moments are so "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! LOOK WHAT I DID!"

I do believe he sincerely wants to credit his players when they win, he just can't help himself. he will always be a glory-hogging extrovert.

and the media feeds on that as well, so when he makes it all about him in the buildup to big games, to protect his players, the media make it all about him as well. so in the aftermath, even if he tries to wander off quietly and let the players have their moment, who do the cameras follow? who do the media talk about? I don't have any memory of inter celebrating with the CL trophy on the balcony at the bernabeu coz the cameras were following mourinho as he walked by the inter fans.

That's precisely what they need Meta , someone to be a leader of the group due to the lack of strong characters in the right age for the job .
His words are what CR needed to hear and he is already taking over as the godfather, leader/general of the group
IMO that's 80 % of why Jose suit the job

Not emotional weakness it's a matter of character
not every great player is a great leader..
sometimes the leader is a shitty footballer

true, madrid do not have what we call the classical leader atm besides raul who is past it and casillas.

very true words.

being a leader can make up for deficiencies. look at puyol for example. he's falling apart but remains a leader to the very end.

reial have assembled a squad of great talents but none of them is a leader except CR and he can only do it against the smaller teams (by himself, if you signed rooney/played benzema he could do it against everyone IMO) and even then he's only a leader on the pitch in terms of style. he's not a captain in the true hierro/puyol/raul/piqué sense.

iker is a captain like xavi is a captain. he's a one-club man and that is his reward. he's not a leader.

so beast, I take your point that's why josé is good for reial. my only point is that will florentino tolerate the glory going to josé rather than reial.

Raul was never an outspoken leader like Hierro , in fact everyone who partnered Raul says he is a quite guy with very few words and lead by example(like coming 20 min before everyone to train ) but not a motivator
Iker is very decent to be a leader
Puyol is one , Maldini was one , Pique is a great material for one , Zanetti is , Del Piero isn't
from the current players Ramos could be one IF he mature and when he gets old

Yep agree a lot but i don't see CR as a leader/captain material he (like Ramos ) need to grow up.. when he is 28/29 he will be an awesome captain

regarding Perez i will refer you to your /Alex/CA ..etc conversation with me last summer

Did u see him anywhere near the team affairs all season ?
the Perez you talk about was the old Perez.. this one learned from his mistakes

That is because he is a celebrity. But according to the players, he will always be someone who takes away from them attention and pressure. His actions are hysterical sometimes but its all part of his persona.

Name one player that was on a winning team of his and did not want him to stay. Three teams, three squads, they all love him.

He is good at using media to his advantage, he managed to get Barcelona winded up over the years. I think he will do the same now against you which gives madrid the headstart for the league.

Really? As good as Mourinho is, he has to come in and impose his ideas on Madrid and overtake us. He might well do that, its not beyond the realms of possibility that Madrid will win the league next season. However, to say they have a headstart on us is a bit of a bold statement. in fact, I would argue that we have the more settled squad who are used to success and, given the possibility of a couple more signings to augment the signing of Villa, we are getting stronger also.

I think he means in terms of winding you up & pissing you off he will get a head start of pushing on your nerves .. (u can see the reactions over here among his hiring which states he already did ) not in terms of team preparation cause you are spot on that you do have a big head start in this even Villa addition will fit like a glove with zero time for adaption .

I wish the british press would say from where do they make up those rumors .. when Cole/Gerrard didn't work out now it's Robin Van Persie !! really !! i mean don't they know he is not any different than Benzema,Higuain & CR ?? and for 42 Million.. no sort of brain to even logically think about if it's possible !!
