i love it how we have the best youth system in the world, yet its seen as a negative that we plan on using it.

Thats not it at all. We have a great youth system, no one's denying that, but adopting a policy in which the competition for our starters is the cantera is radically dangerous.

Granero is hardly a RW and a decent role player but not much more. Özil can come from the right side as well. And Canales, while I love his game, is hardly a guaranteed starter at 19. Besides, better not too much pressure on him anyway, or 3 bad games could break him.

I don't think it would break him. it would make him, tbh.

you can't sign a player of that potential and use him as a squaddie. the kid is bursting for regular football and he's only, what, 2 years younger than oezil?

oezil from the right is wasted. if granero isn't a winger than you're overloaded at CAM and one man thin on the wing, unless you plan on playing someone out of position.

to be fair he's right, sorta.

take messi and zlatan out of the equation and the treatment across the squads is fairly equal, but leo gets battered senseless every week and the punishment is never as harsh as it should be, and zlatan gets penalised if he so much as lovingly caresses a defender (and we know how he likes to lovingly caress defenders!)

I think his size has a lot to do with this. Refs seem to think no defender can bring zlatan down and that every time he disputes a ball and the defender falls, its a Zlatan foul.

My thoughts precisely. There seems to be a strong contingent of spendaholics on this forum who panic when we aren't seen to splurge large amounts of cash, I'm not disputing that we could do with more squad depth than last season but if there's a viable homegrown option at Barca Atletic to come into the squad and do a job then that should take preference over spending millions on a foreign mercenary.

These youngsters are one year older. One year better and one year is alot in their development. Have patience. Worst case scenario we can buy someone in December window.

i really dont get it... why buy ozil and sell vdv when essentially, they are quite similar players...

unless they are planning to sell vdv for an increased price or are meaning to exploit ozil's brand.

this is definitely a better summer for Madrid than last season. they got some great young players for very reasonable prices. still, I think the signing of Ozil was very unnecessary. He shouldve went to United, not Real, not Barca. Canales and Ozil are basically the same player except for speed. yes, it's crucial if you're planning to play counter attacking football (which seems like it). But then wouldnt it have been a better idea to buy Ozil, keep VDV, and loan out Canales? it would give you other options on the field plus Canales would develop even more.

ps. I dont think Ozil would be great on the wing. it doesn't even make sense that some of you guys are saying that he should. they have Di Maria, Ronaldo, Pedro Leon, Marcelo, and Drenthe. thats enough depth with quality.

Ozil is slightly better than VDV and more versatile .. and have better future if he keeps developing me thinks..
i like Rafa but we get Ozil who is younger and sell VDV and make profit from it , why not ?
