Pool A is really interesting.
Wales - Played 2 games, Points Differential = +48, Table Points = 9
England - Played 2 games, Points Differential = + 21, Table Points = 6
Australia - Played 1 game, Points Differential = +15, Table Points = 4
What could happen.
Australia get 5 tables points tomorrow vs Uruguay. What will the victory margin be?
Can Wales manage to get 4 trys vs Fiji in 5 days time even with their squad injuries to get an extra table point? What will the victory margin be?
Can England save their World Cup by narrowly beating Australia. Can Australia get a table point by losing by less than 7.
Wales - Played 3 games, Points Differential = ?? , Table Points = 14 or 13
England - Played 3 games, Points Differential = ??, Table Points = 10 or 6 (Knocked out) or 7 (Knocked out)
Australia - Played 3 games, Points Differential = ??, Table Points = 10 or 13 or 9
What could happen:
Australia beat Wales but Wales get a bonus Table point for losing by 7 or less. Australia finish on 14 Table points. Wales finish on 15 Table points. England geting 4 trys vs Uruguay. England finish on 15 table points.
Australia not getting 4 trys vs Fiji has Ultimately sent Australia home knocked out.
Another complicated scenario is Wales not getting 4 trys vs Fiji and the margin of victory being about the same as Australia (around 15 points).
Wales do well managing to lose to Australia by less than 7. Wales finish on 14 Table points, Australia finish on 14 table points. Wales knocked out because of Points differential. This is why I think Australia's match against Uruguay and the match of Wales vs Fiji is so important.
Also imagine if Either England vs Australia or Wales vs Australia contains a try fest between both teams. Extra table points there.
