While I like that we can strengthen our teams with foreign players we should also be weary of how it affects the growth of Irish players. Having said that the current rules in place seem to be sufficient as our national team is playing the greatest rugby in its history.

Isnt there some rule currently that between ulster munster and leinster that between the three of them every position should have at least 2 irish players.

Aaron Cruden Injured. Is it going to be a blow for New Zealand? . . think again ;)
Our Highlanders N0.10 Lima Sopoaga may get the chance.
We underdogs are impressing this year and last year. Sopoaga's goalkicking certainly contributed to our success. As he kicked 65 goal kicks out of 77 during last season. That is better than Dan Carters great year of 2006 where he goalkicked at 70 out of 95.

Yes Charles Piutau is good. . . He may still be picked for the All Blacks, but this display of neglect for the All Blacks Jersey for overseas money may mean that the coaches pick someone else for the World Cup.

Piutau's strength is his run-direction decision making. He has Speed, but not stand out speed. He makes a lot of metres when he runs, not because of speed but because of 'where' he runs.

Another young man moving to Europe is Colin Slade. He is a No.10 with good ball running skills. Average Goal-kicking, average general kicking play. Above average link-play with the backline. I mean he is good enough to be an All Black but like Piutau he is one of those rugby players where it's hard to tell what he is good at but when you are supporting the opposite team he is just a nuisense to your teams chances.

Revenge is Sweetest in an a$$ whipping. Highlanders 48 Sharks 15 in our Glasshouse. The Sharks and the Highlanders both made the Top 6 last year with the Sharks beating the Highlanders to advance to the super rugby Semi-finals.
Great Atmosphere!

McCaw and Carter are past it. I don't want them in the All Blacks during the World Cup. The Crusaders are not going to make it to the Super Rugby semi-finals for the first time since 2001

About half a dozen players come back during World Cup year to play in the Super Rugby competition so they can be in All Black contention.
Sonny Bill Williams has just come back from Rugby League to play Super Rugby.

Got my photo with All Blacks rugby legend wing and former New Zealand cricketer Jeff 'Goldie' Wilson yesterday during a road trip for the Highlanders vs Chiefs.

It was a perfect weekend for me with the Highlanders (who got lucky against the Chiefs last time while being thoroughly dominated) smashing the Chiefs and with a 4 try bonus point. Stunning Victory for the archives! 36-9 on a wet slippery evening.
