Why should a plebe like Aleix Vidal get the 22 anyways? If Umtiti wants it because of Abidal, he should get it. Vidal only has it as a randomly assigned number...

Okay, I get the fan (and Lucho) hate for Vidal is at an all-time high but that's not really true. He wore the 22 at at least 3 of his previous clubs, which is kind of remarkable by itself considering how many clubs he played for and it's his own sentimental number, coincidence has it this specific number has so much weight at this one club. I'd LOVE Umtiti to get Abidal's number because of the symbolic meaning and hopefully a good luck token of what he'll achieve at Barcelona but unless the players talked about it (unlikely even if Vidal had been present at CN) it's a completely frivolous issue that definitely wasn't relevant during the transfer negotiations and it's not like Barto and the coaches now care to crowd Aleix into a corner and tell him to rip the 22 off his back either, comm'on! Yeah, I hope Umtiti gets the 22 or at least Verma leaves for EPL so he can keep the 23 but none of our signings lately cared that much, Vidal too he only got lucky the 22 was available att.

It's MD likely exaggerating on what a player could possibly do.

Umtiti good with the ball? he's a great option for DM then! Umtiti playing as a DM would probably work as good as Song/Busi at CB.

It's seems to be his preference to have 22 (was also his Euro jersey #) yeah but not a strong one enough to force it. We'll see once they announce the final squad, so far none of the new signings made a definite choice. Also, on a chance Verma leaves Sam could keep his OL 23.
