You are overrating him. De Ligt yes but Upamecano has proven him at age 19 in one of the 4 best leagues in the world and in Europe competitions. There isn't even any proof to your point that he is the best CB in the world.

You guys do realize he's one of the lowest earners on the team right? Despite being one of our best players, not to mention the best CB in the world? I don't see a problem at all with him wanting a better salary, just as long as he accepts a high buyout clause. Maybe he shouldn't be on the Iniesta, Suarez etc level wages Sport is reporting (which could very well be more fake news from them) but he does deserve a raise.

Anyway it's all negotation tactics and fake news from Sport. He'll renew, most likely after the world cup and that'll be that.

Great penalty box, great pass interceptor, amazing passer, very good positioning, can dribble, always knows what to do with the ball, passes between the lines, always wins the ball and does everything at the highest level overall, the only thing I can think of he doesn't do is score goals, which I don't expect from a CB. Are you talking about consistency? Are you kidding me? He has been providing performances week in week out for last 2 seasons, one of our most consistent players. PLEASE tell me a better CB in the world than Umtiti.

He isn't better than Piqué or Ramos. And Upamecano would be a damn terror with a great CB alongside him.

I would like to keep Umtiti but this isn't black or white. Good player but can get replaced if he wants too much money.
