You have to wonder how this is possible given he only had a year left of contract when we renewed him?

What is going on in the club with these contracts and transfer dealings?

Do you think the other players of Barca feel comfortable with his presence in the locker room? He is a player who obviously can't play due to physical limitations but is collecting hefty pay-checks. That is already a bad example for others. Someone may just decide to follow his footsteps when the club ask him to leave.
Even though Barcelona will have to pay his full wages for the next season it will be very relaxing for many of us to not see his face around.

We've had players on high wages who have refused to leave for years. They are bigger problems for sporting department and potentially coaches than their team mates.

Unlike the fans players understand and can mostly separate between business and private part of the football. FFS Messsi and most other players stayed friends with Neymar despite him backstabbing us.

So don't think there is any player inside the locker room who has something personal against likes of Umtiti or Braithwaite and can't wait for them to leave. Well, maybe Kounde because we can't register him but others just don't give much shit about this imo.

As revealed in the book "From Glory to Hell", written by journalists Sique Rodr?guez, Adri? Soldevila, and Sergi Escudero, Umtiti's situation underwent different changes. In principle, the Frenchman had a valid contract until June 30, 2023. On that date, after rejecting the letter of freedom offered by the club, he should have received 57 million euros in a season and a half, which should have Barca subscribed. The club negotiated a salary reduction with the Frenchman, going from 57 "kilos" to 52 million, with an extension of the contract, until 2026. Less money, but more years of contract. Right now, 'Big Sam' must collect 52 million euros from Barcelona. Of those 52 million, up to 40 "kilos" would be fixed and the rest, the remaining 12 million, would correspond to different variables for collective and individual objectives of difficult fulfillment, for games played. Bar?a agreed to a salary reduction with Umtiti and in exchange, extended his contract.

57m for 1,5 year of contract is clearly exaggerated even with crazy contracts we've had, lol.

Right, so initially another Nobita special.
Next thing you know Barto will be blaming Doroemon for fucking us. Coming from the future and not mentioning a pandemic was on the horizon.

Of course, they don't give much shit about this. That is understandable. They (his teammates) don't pay his wages. The club does.
But all said, it will be very much relaxing to see both Umtiti and Braithwaite living.
