On his way to AC Milan for 30m + a percentage of future sale. Inter Milan were close to signing him, but ditched it to go after Arturo Vidal(good for us) to appease Conte(bad for them) who seem hell bent on signing a bunch of has-beens.
Imo, it is not that crazy.
Italy has a long history of Seria A winners built with players aged 30-36.
Since late 90s, Ac Milan had players aged 32+, like Maldini, Nesta, Costacurta, Cafu, Ambrosini, Seedorf etc.
Then Juve started to win titles in the last 10 years with the same formula.
For a CL, having oldies is not good enough, you will lose to younger, fast paced teams like Liverpool.
But for Seria A titles, experience counts a lot in their slow paced, static league.
I mean, Lautaro is supposed to be a young gem, but old grannies Zlatan and Immobile are banging double more goals than him.
Our forum is biased towards youth and kids.
But for Seria A, if you want to fight for a title in the next 2-3 years, apparently Vidal and similar players are the way to go, not youngsters.
And Conte is there to win short term and not to build a team that MIGHT be successful in 5-8 years.
