Don't overhype the Germans. They have their own vulnerabilities. They are certainly beatable, just like Bayern.
After one game where the Brazilians literally handed over the victory to the Germans, Loew & co. are hyped this much by everyone. They are still that same old team that cruised through the Portuguese and struggled against the Ghanians, the Americans and the Algerians. The only change is Loew is heeding the advice to play safe in the last couple of games and that worked for them.

I'd say the 1978 loss isn't nearly as traumatic as the 1974 loss. It's true, we already beat Argentina in 1998, so tonight's match doesn't feel as a chance for revenge for me. But maybe that's different for my older compatriots. The 5-1 against Spain didn't feel like revenge to me either. Another loss against Germany, should we reach the final, would be more traumatic, I guess, them being our neighbours and all that.

A loss in the final is much worse then losing in a quarter final and we still hold the record of losing the most finals without managing a single win after finishing as runners-up in 1974, 1978, and 2010,

It's not like the Schadensfreude I was refering to didn't exist in countless threads on the internet or in the newspapers around the world etc.

The only way for the Dutch to redeem themselves is to win the world cup now, they have trashed spain, won trough penalties if they beat Argentina and then the archnemesis Germany after their first final loss 40 years ago, they will have dealed with all their world cup sorrow in one cup.
For me this world cup has two legendary outcomes: Dutch redemption or Messi becoming the undisputable goat. Germany winning does nothing beside adding another notch on to their belt.
Despite that they will be clear favourites whoever they face in the final, mostly because of the 1-7 win.

Agree with you about "Dutch redemption or Messi becoming the undisputed goat" however I think the Germans having won 7-1 will make them less prepared for the final. I think if today's match is a game not a slaughter like yesterday; it will produce a more focused and determined winner for the final. Whoever wins today will win the cup in my opinion.
