Sergi Roberto

At least we won't have to listen about dream right side Semedo-Roberto.

Closer to the truth would have been: we need 2 new players for the right side.

Let's hope he won't play as a midfielder too much in the future.

Ordinary is the first word that comes to mind. What is he good at really? Him playing as a winger is mental.

Most glorified La Masia product in recent memory. People slag off Thiago, but he's twice the player Roberto ever will be which is why one is picked as a midfielder for Spain while the other is not even picked as a RB with Odriozola preferred to him. Too bad Thiago fucked off to Bayern though.

Jack of all trades, master of none.

I've always said it.

He had 3 good solo actions last season.
That bought him a credit as a midfielder for the next 10 years.

Young, domestic, likeable guy.

Missed the game except last few minutes, but he is a good squad player to have, in the current market of RB I dare to say he is even a decent RB and back up CM/DM.

If only he was as talented as his apologists on here are dedicated.. he is not Barcelona standard.

Yes, this is why I call him jack of all trades, master of none. In an ideal situation he would be a backup/squad player for multiple positions, but not a starter for any of them.

It's just that many fans want to project Thiago's talent on Roberto which simply isn't there. Roberto is by no means a bad player to have. He's a very good player to have in the squad. The problem is that he's a starter and people see him as a starter in the midfield.

The constant argument about his best playing position takes us away from the real facts. The guy is at best a very average player no matter where he plays. Another who's not good enough to be at the club , and there are many like him.

Being average isn't so bad, Pedro was pretty average as an attacker too or at least nothing special. With right coach and players (starters) around a guy like Sergi is very useful to have for every club. He also at least fits the barca style relatively good compared to like Paulinho or Gomes so having him as versatile roleplayer is great.

It's not his fault we don't have world class starters for CM and RB.

How is this guy earning 10 million a year in wages? One of our top players in Umtiti can't get himself 9m, but this overrated, no better than average remontada merchant landed himself 10m?

Looks like all you need to do to be one of the top earners at this club is have 2-3 great moments in your career.

Just pulled up our wage bill and looks like Roberto is the 4th highest earner at the club after Coutinho (who doesn't earn that much more than him), Messi and Suarez. Even if the numbers are outdated he's still a top 5-6 top earner at this club, which is a complete farce.

What a joke of a contract. Haven't seen many complaints about this ridiculous deal and I'm surprised to find out he's pulled off the heist of the century. We complain about our wage bill being bloated. We could start by cutting down on massively inflated deals like this one to players like Roberto. Roberto probably threatened to leave and the board succumbed to his demands knowing he was a local favorite and was the only first team La Masia graduate in recent times.

40m is a pretty good price for him tbh, should've taken it instead of giving him those sort of wages. Barto's hands were tied knowing he was already on thin ice and letting Roberto leave could make him even more hated and probably garner additional support for a vote of no confidence.
